Tennessee man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to five counts of at tempted first degree murder for allegedly trying to run over five city police officers in December David Wil liam Smith 20 entered those Smith pleas at his arraignment before Circuit Judge Jerry Beck in Sul livan County Criminal Court Tuesday morning David Smith was indicted on the attempted murder charges last week David Smith had little to say during his brief court appear ance sitting silently next to his newly appointed attorney Assistant Pubic Defender Gale lannery It was lannery who actually entered the not guilty pleas
