Jenkins, and Betty Jean Meador Perrigo. On Monday, May 15, 2023, the angels carried Gary to his Heavenly reward at the age of 71 years, seven months, and 13 days. The Lord saved soul on a Friday many years ago.

He was baptized into New Design Missionary Baptist Church and was faithful to attend as long as his health permitted. Gary served his country and joined the United States Air Force on Aug. 31, 1971. He was honorably discharged on Aug. 30, 1977.

He married his wife and best friend, Ethelda Joyce Law, on Jan. 10, 1986. They were blessed to raise three children and spend 32 years together before her passing on March 17, 2018. Gary loved trading, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play, and spending time with his family and grandkids. Along with his mother, father, and dear wife, Gary was also proceeded in death by: his daughter, Kimberly Lee Jenkins; step-father, A.P.

Perrigo; step-mother, Emerjean Jenkins; sister, Tammy Jenkins; and infant brother, Tony Perrigo. Gary will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him, but he is now reunited with his Gary is survived by: his sons, Jeremy Marshall, Scotty Jenkins (and wife, Joni); grandchildren, Bryson Jenkins, Hunter Jenkins, Kierston Jenkins, Bella Jenkins, Amelia Jenkins, Keegan Jenkins, Myles Jenkins, Brianna Santillan, Issac Marshall, Kennedy Marshall; and great-grandchildren, Ophelia Jenkins and Easton McFayden. Funeral services were conducted on Friday from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Tim Lowhorn and Brian Flynn officiating. Interment followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Johnny Coley, Chris Phillips, Darrell Jenkins, Jason Brooks, Bryson Jenkins, Isaac Marshall, Hunter Jenkins, Scott Day, Billy Bransford and John Sewell.

Alexander Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Eva Mae Johnson Latham Eva Mae Johnson Latham, 72, of Lafayette, passed away on May 20, 2023, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin. Funeral services were conducted last Thursday at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Anderson Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Landy Presley officiating. Interment followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Anderson Son Funeral Home in Lafayette was entrusted with the arrangements. Dee Gregory Dee Gregory, 69, of Pleasant Shade, passed away on May 17, 2023. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday from the chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Joey Hackett and Dewayne Gregory officiating. Interment followed in Will Gregory Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Alexander Funeral Home.

WILL GREGORY CEMETERY DECORATION SERVICE The Will Gregory Cemetery, located on Sycamore Valley Road in Macon County, will have decoration service on Sunday at 2 p.m. There will be preaching by Jerry Shrum. Donations for upkeep of the cemetery may be mailed to the treasurer, John O. Smith, at 524 Gum Springs Road, Lafayette, Tennessee, 37083, or given to committeemen Wayne Gregory or Dennis Gregory. CEMETERY DECORATION Decoration will be held at Cemetery, located on Knight Road in Lafayette, on Sunday at 2 p.m. For more information, call Conilla Robinson at 615-666- 8883. HAYSVILLE CEMETERY DECORATION DAY Haysville Cemetery, located on Scottsville Road in Lafayette, will be holding decoration throughout the day on Sunday. The cemetery will also be accepting donations for upkeep. Donations can be given at the cemetery on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and they can be mailed to 1404 Flippin Lafayette, Tennessee, 37083.

POPPEN TO SPEAK AT 37150 GROW ON PROGRAM Jeff Poppen, known as the Barefoot Farmer, will speak at the 37150 Grow On program on June 3 at 10 a.m. at the Hotel, which will be held at 321 East Main St.

SPORTS HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY The Macon County Sports Hall of Fame will be holding its annual induction banquet on June 3 in at Macon County High School. The event will begin with a catered meal to be held in the cafeteria at 6 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony in the auditorium.

The 2023 induction class includes Clint Carter, Wally Etheridge, Nathan Gregory, Danny Kempf and Claude Jenkins. Tickets are $20 per person. The goal of the festival is to pass on knowledge, skills and traditions that ensure the survival of folk activities, from medicine and natural healing arts to arts and crafts that demonstrate the traditional, handmade way of not only creating art, but also useful household items.

Junior high camp is held at Clyde York 4-H Center from May 29 thorugh June 2 and is $330. Junior 4-H Camp is held from June 5-9 at Clyde York 4-H Center and is $310.

There are other specialty camps scheduled, such as electric camp, Pioneer Camp, FCS Behind the Scenes, and culinary camp. The camp registration deadlines are approaching, and spots are limited. MCHS AGRICULTURAL DAY CAMP The Macon County High School agriculture department will be hosting an agricultural summer day camp from June 12-16 at MCHS. The camp is for students entering grades 6-8 at Macon County Junior High School and Red Boiling Springs Junior High.

The camp which will consist of hands-on projects, agricultural field trips, guest speakers, arts and crafts, greenhouse activities and animal interactions will last from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. each day, and lunch will be provided. LIBRARY TO HOLD SUMMER READING PROGRAM The Macon County Public Library System will host this summer reading program tale and tailes with events held on four Thursdays in June. Programs will be held on Thursdays at 3 p.m.

Programs scheduled include: June 3 Craft day at the park (registration required by May 20) June 8 Animalogy with Bob Tarter June 22 Barry Mitchell and Sam the turtle (2:30 p.m. at RBS) June 29 Mr. Bond the Science Guy All programs are free of charge and open to the public.

DOWNTOWN SOUND The Hartsville Rotary Club is sponsoring Downtown Sound, a free public concert series that will be held on Court Street in Hartsville on the second Thursday of the month, through Aug. 10. Local food trucks and vendors will be present from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with live music playing from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

For more information, contact Mike Potts at 615-542- 2957. Thunell Gregory Blankenship Thunell Gregory Blankenship, 81, passed away on May 20, 2023, in Murfreesboro. She was born in Lafayette on Sept. 1, 1941. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.

Mrs. Thunell is survived by: her sons, Randy (Tammy) Blankenship, Kevin Blankenship; grandchildren, Kyle (Gracie) Blankenship, Kelsey (Derek) Stewart, Kavon Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Brady Stewart, Carson Stewart and Lucy Jo Blankenship. Mrs. Thunell is preceded in death by: her husband, Billy Randall Blankenship; her parents, Utah and Evell Hudson Gregory; and her brother, Lutrell Gregory. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.

The service was held on Tuesday at noon at Woodard Funeral Home, with Tracy Carter officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held on Monday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Woodard Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9 a.m.
