Ruth, his wife of fifty-six years, preceded Bill in death in 2005. He is survived by a son, Tim (Tricia) of Columbus, OH, and two daughters Jane (Alan) Dossett of Southboro, MA and Janice McConnell of Pittsburgh; also four grandchildren Katie and Emily McConnell, Adam Dossett and Julie McConnell-Romero. Bill was born on May 5, 1921 to Edward and Irene McConnell of Jeannette, PA. Following graduation from Jeannette High School, where he was a varsity letterman in football, Bill enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

In 1944, after graduation, Bill was commissioned in the US Army. He served as an anti aircraft officer from 1945 to 1948. Following his discharge, Bill began a long and successful career in the glass industry. Through a thirty-one year career with PPG Industries, Bill held a variety of sales and sales management positions: Manager of Pennvernon Sales, Director of Primary Glass Sales, Director of Residential Sales, and Supervisor of Customer Services. Bill was well known and well respected throughout the United States glass industry.

He was a true "sales" professional. Upon retirement in 1986, Bill served faithfully in several volunteer positions: Meals on Wheels, Bethel Park, PA and The Guild for the Blind, Bridgeville, PA. He and Ruth were faithful members of Westminster Presbyterian Church (Upper St. Clair) for over fifty years. Bill served as an usher and as a member of the session.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Friendship Village Health Center, the Rev. Dr. Cindy McClung, and the compassionate staff of Odyssey Hospice. A memorial service for Bill will be held on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at 2:00 p.m.

Elizabeth was born in Byrnedale, PA, youngest of the five children of Appollonia (Leona) and Jan August (Gus) Wennersten. Her siblings Chester, Burnette, Russell, and Elmer preceded her in death. She was schooled in hairdressing, working in the industry throughout her life.

In 1945 she married Robert Barnet Ridley, originally of Millwood, PA, following his return from active duty in the European Theater of WWII. She is survived by her children, Judith B. Meyers, of Phoenix; Robert B. Ridley (and wife Kathryn) of Los Angeles; Rebecca Ridley (and husband Daniel Krill) of Jeffersonton, VA; grandchildren Rachael C. and Justin M.

Streiner of Pittsburgh; and nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Middletown Road Baptist Church, a former volunteer with Crafton Meals-on-Wheels program, and an ardent pug-lover. Interment, in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, will be private. A memorial service will be held at Middletown Road Baptist Church, at 2660 Middletown Road, at 7 PM on Wednesday, October 5, 2011.

Sister Virginia entered the congregation from Saint Joseph, Mount Oliver. Sister served in the Dioceses of Pittsburgh and Altoona- Johnstown for 29 years when she ministered as an upper elementary and high school teacher. She also served as principal at Saint Joseph, Mount Oliver for six years. Then sister transferred to hospital ministry for 27 years in Pittsburgh and New Castle, PA. For the last 15 years, she was actively involved in prayer ministry.

Sister will be remembered for her quiet, friendly and caring ways and acceptance and patience in the process of aging. Visitation at the Mt. Michael was valedictorian of Carrick High School and a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

He was a Certified Public Accountant, a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Financial Management Association and was licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator. Formerly a CPA at Ernst Young LLP and Maher Duessel, Controller at Central Medical Hospital, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer at Aliquippa Hospital and East Liverpool City Hospital, and most recently Vice of Tuomey Healthcare System in Sumter, SC. Michael volunteered in many activities, including coaching his sons in youth sports, serving as president of Rotary of East Liverpool, board member of the Beaver County American Red Cross, and member of the Tuomey Foundation. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
