Mary Louise McCurdy, 86, of Berkeley Hills, PA passed in the love of her family and care givers at Rockynol Assisted Living, Akron, OH, April 10, 2013. Mary Lou was born on Oct. 26, 1926 to Lually and John Stickle, of Washington, PA. She grew up in Brookline along with her brother Bill. A graduate of Southside High School, she went on to receive a bachelor of the Arts Degree from the University of Pittsburgh where she met and fell in love with her husband of almost 60 years, Ted McCurdy, of Ben Avon.

She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Life as a college graduate and married woman began in May of 1948. A dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many she leaves all who knew her well with beautiful memories. Every day of her life was an opportunity for a special occasion. Her door was always open, her table always beautifully set for the season, her kitchen stocked.

Mary greatest joy was sharing her intelligence, creative talents, and sense of humor with family and friends. She was a member of Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, Twig and Blossom Garden Club, and lent her abilities to numerous community organizations. She is survived by her son Tim McCurdy (Carol), of Coudersport, PA; daughter Marcia Wolff, of Akron, OH; grandchildren Lindsay Zedonek (Mark), of Pittsburgh, PA, Kyle McCurdy, of Ann Arbor, MI, Matthew Coudersport, PA; sisters-in-law Mary Ann Wrenshall, of Avalon, PA and Norine Lucas, of Chapel Hill, NC; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. We wold like to thank the staff of Rockynol and Visiting Nurse Services Hospice for their loving care. Born December 27, 1938 to the late Jean and Edward Fitzgerald of Columbus, OH. Beloved husband of 50 years to Susan Burt Fitzgerald; father of Mollie Jean Fitzgerald and Michael Edward Fitzgerald (Kristene Matelan- and grandfather of Susan Abigail Larsen. He is also survived by sister, Sandy Westfall (Robert) of Davis, CA; and two nieces, Kathy Earls and Katie Lippincott, of Columbus, OH.

Preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Fitzgerald Felty. A graduate of Upper Arlington High School in 1957, he earned both his Bachelor of Science and his graduate degree, Doctor of Dentistry, at Ohio State University. He received a hospital dental internship with the U.S. Public Health Service in Boston, MA and then served as a dental officer for two years in Pittsburgh and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. During that time he was also an instructor in the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.

An avid outdoorsman, Mike then followed his dream and in 1969, with his wife, co-founded Frontiers International, a pre-eminent travel service for discriminating sportsmen and non-sporting travelers alike. He was an icon and a pioneer in the outdoor adventure travel business. He was very highly regarded and well-liked by all those that met him. Mike will be remembered best for his active mind, his gentle nature, his inimitable sense of humor, and his passion for Duke Basketball, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and bacon purveyors across the country.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 21 at Allegheny Country Club, Country Club Road, Sewickley PA at 2 p.m. followed by a reception. Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Peter James Karakitsos. Born in Springfield, MA and raised in East Liberty, as the daughter of a local candy store owner.

Mrs. Karakitsos was an outstanding student who graduated from Peabody High School with honors. She married in 1937, and in 1952 began a new adventure with two young daughters in support of her husband's role as cultural attache to the US government. They lived in several countries around the world representing the United States, including Iran, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico and Greece a lifetime of government service which spanned over 25 years. The Karakitsos' then settled in Houston, TX for many years.

A lover of music who played piano and taught herself the guitar, Mrs. Karakitsos excelled at many things. She was a talented seamstress who made clothes for herself and her daughters. She understood the benefits of yoga and natural foods well before her peers. She discovered email almost as quickly as her grandchildren.

She was trilingual including Iran, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico and Greece a lifetime of government service which spanned over 25 years. The Karakitsos' then settled in Houston, TX for many years. Mrs. Karakitsos attended the University of Houston, double majoring in Spanish and Psychology, and graduated magna cum laude at age 70.

She was born July 5, 1946 in Sewickley, a daughter of the late Paul and Gussella Megella.

She was a graduate of Robinson High School and attended Robert Morris College. Her interest in travel, spurred a lifetime of learning, notably within the Austrian and French cultures. She was a member of the Pittsburgh French Cultural Society and chaired the first debutante ball in this region for the Austrian American Cultural Society at Carnegie Music Hall. Her attention to detail was unparalleled in planning events. Mrs.

Mustari also chaired a Sewickley Valley Hospital Southern Comfort Ball and was formerly president of Sewickley Music Club. She was active within the PSO and the POA, a member for 20 years, where she co-chaired several luncheons for the organizations along with Diamond Horseshoe Opera Ball preview parties. Her wealth was in a multi-cultural and world-wide group of friends and family whom she often corresponded with and visited overseas, throughout Europe and Asia. She was a long-time member of St. Joseph Church, Coraopolis.

She is survived by her loving family, husband, Frank; and son, Paul, who cared for her continually throughout a two month long illness. Friends will be received at the ANTHONY J. SANVITO FUNERAL HOME, 1316 Fourth Coraopolis. Visitation will be Sunday, 6 p.m. 8 p.m., and Monday, 12 p.m.

Send condolences at Carole Fisher knew her as someone who lived life to the fullest. In 1972, she was a champion of the Women's Western Pennsylvania golf tournament at the age of almost 50. Competing with and defeating women almost three decades her junior, the newspapers dubbed her the "Cinderella This Cinderella girl married her Prince Charming, the late Dr. Edwin R. Fisher, raised two wonderful daughters, Marjorie and Abbe, three grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, and Joseph, and one great- grandchild, Milo.

Very pragmatic and optimistic, Carole was able to battle both breast cancer and lung cancer for nearly 15 years, exceeding even her doctor's expectations. The loving qualities most remembered by her surviving children and grandchildren are her independence, warmth, impeccable taste, and loving, supportive generosity.
