rLOCAL Nine abortion protesters convicted BLOUNTVILLE Nine anti abortion protesters were convicted on criminal trespass charges Thursday for trespassing at a Bristol family planning clinic in January Thirty two people were arrested Jan 28 at Bristol Obstetrics Gynecology amily PLanning PC 101 New Kingsport Highway for allegedly blocking the entrance to the business The anti abortion protesters are members of a group called reedom Rescue Several people have already pleaded no contest one man was convicted on the misdemeanor charge Some protesters are yet to be tried Last week charges against six people were dismissed but the charges will be brought back before the grand jury One person Judith A Hines of Paducah Ky was acquitted Thursday Those who were convicted are Dana Morton and Joseph Rogersville and Harvey Prichard HI 916 Kendricks Creek Kingsport A sentencing hearing is set for July 28 WETS tries 24 hour programming JOHNSON CITY Radio station WETS has launched full 24 hour public radio broadcasting service with overnight programs airing from midnight to 6 am Station Director Richard Ellis said the added hours are part of a one year trial period to study the need and acceptance terminates Yeargin contract Auodated Press KINGSPORT A Tennessee Eastman Co spokesman has denied that termination of a contract with a South Carolina company is related to union organization attempts The spokesman Tom Parham said Thursday that Tennessee Eastman is select ing a successor to Yeargin Inc of Greenville SC About 700 Yeargin employees do electri cal maintenance and construction work at the sprawling Eastman complex in Kingsport Last year the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers tried unsuccessfully to unionize the Yeargin employees Parham said termination of the contract not related to that in any way what The National Labor Relations Board is sued a complaint after a failed union vote that contends Yeargin is guilty of unfair labor practices A hearing is scheduled
