Mr. Manuel led an active life and had shown no signs of poor health, so family and friends were shocked when he died of a heart attack outside of his Green Tree home May 30, two days after he celebrated his 59th birthday. He was in his first year of retirement following 22 years as a Pittsburgh police officer, where he worked as a patrol officer and in the narcotics division. Born to the late Lelia Manuel and Kenneth Manuel Mr. Manuel was a lifelong Pittsburgh resident who loved his city and lived in its service, Mrs.

Manuel said. He demonstrated his commitment to helping others at a young age, when a 14-year-old helped his family cope with his unexpected death. He adored his father, his sister Venus Manuel recalled, and often accompanied him on boating and fishing excursions. Despite his own grieving, however, Mr. Manuel soon became man of the and was very protective of his sisters.

After graduating from Schenley High School, Mr. Manuel earned an associate degree in industrial engineering from the Pittsburgh Technical Institute. While he worked as an engineer at both Rockwell International Corp. and Pittsburgh Gear Company, it was only when he was laid off that Mr. Manuel found his true calling.

She also worked for over 20 years in the banking industry with various local banks.

Donna was a member of Middlebourne United Methodist Church and St. United Methodist Church in Paden City for many years. She was extremely proud of her children and was an inspiration to many as she battled cancer for over nine years, while living life to the fullest. After college, she lived and worked in New York City for several years, spent time studying history as a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh, and had the wonderful opportunity to travel about the world in the early 1960s with her father, after his retirement from Alcoa. In 1966, she married the late Dr. Carl Henry Bailey, Jr.

who was originally from Sharon, PA and moved west to Napa, CA where she was a devoted, caring, and often amusing wife, mother, and friend. Ginny was best known for her lifelong friendships, for her kind and caring nature, interest in all worldly issues, slow deliberate pace, and love for a strong cup of coffee. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Dacus and family, husband, Stephen Dacus, and children, Danielle, Alex, and Nicole; her son, Donovan Bailey and family, wife, Joanna Fyson, and daughters, Elena and Colette; and her brother, Bill Wilmot and his family, wife, Phyllis, and daughters, Lauren, Kristen, and Elise. He was born March 27, 1925, in Ripley, NY, a son of the late Carl Bauer and Eva Baumgartel Cleary. Mr. Bauer was a graduate of Shaler High School and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.

He was a licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania and Florida. He was also licensed in real estate and was a three-time salesman of the year for Ryan Homes. He also was a salesman for Crawford Homes. Mr. Bauer retired from the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh.

He enjoyed camping and the Steelers. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greensburg and a former member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church of Etna. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Schmidt Bauer; his second wife, Carol Hoffman Seiler Bauer; and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Seiler Keough. He is survived by a son, Gary (Carole) Bauer of Lower Burrell; a son-in-law, Regis Keough of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Friday at the BARNHART FUNERAL HOME, 505 E. Pittsburgh Greensburg. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Penn Twp.
