These will be held from 12:10 to 12:40 p. m. each day, starting Monday and running through Saturday. Special messages will delivered by different speakers throughout the week. Last night was exceptionally quiet for city policemen.

Cafe Shooting Exploit Being Probed Today Schoolfleld police officers this afternoon were securing evidence relating to the alleged exploit yesterday evening of Oscar Udey, proprietor of the Gray Front on College avenue, who is said to have run amuck with a pistol without damaging anyone. Udey was in jail today and will be dealt with probably next wees. Chief of Police Cole said this mornting that a there question was no of his warrant sanity against had as been raised. Police of Danville recelved a riot call at about five o'clock and they sped to the scene to find few people in the immediate vicinity the restaurant In the walls of which were four or five bullet holes.

Udey was found and arrested without any trouble. The police learned that because an effort had been made to remove a slot machine from the restaurant, Udey had become angered and had fired at Robert Evert who was removmg the device. Evert, however, said that he had not been shot at and that only one shot was fired so far as he knew, into the ground out in the street that following this this, he had talked with Udey for about ten minutes. The general shooting appears to have taken place after Evert had left the scene. Arizona Speeds Northward With Hoover's Party U.

S. S. ARIZONA, March The Arizona, carrying President Hoover and his party back to Washington, ran into cool bracing weather during the night after a week spent in the tropics which left the faces of most of the party, including President Hoover's burned to 8 deep red. Stimson Studies Customs Treaty; Has No Comment WASHINGTON, March The Franco-Italian naval agreement and the proposed Austro-German customs treaty held the attention of the state today as it maintained official silence and department, awaited developments.

Secretary Stimson, expecting the text of the customs proposals, remained non-committal. Any statement from him, it was said, might be interpreted to indicate the United States was taking a position on the political aspects of the accord. Boy Trapped In Mine Found Dead POTTSVILLE, March After hours of frantic digging in a small mine near here, rescuers tonight found the body of Chris Minshoff, 13, who was trapped in the pit today.

Hampered by lack of space, the men worked in shifts of five, digging on their hands and knees. Groans heard down in the mine had spurred workers early tonight. Chris, his father and two brothers digging in the mine when the ceiling collapsed. INFANT IS BURIED Funeral services for Anne Mortimer Carrington, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Charles V. Carrington, were held yesterday from the residence of Col. A. B. Carrington on Holbrook avenue.

Interment was in Green Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Ashby Raine, William Carter, D. A. Overbey, and Hampton Benton. Flowers were carried by Hamilton Vass.

Fieldale FIELDALE, March The Fieldale Bridge Club was entertained Monday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Joseph Lindsey. Basket of Jonquils breathed a message of spring and added a colorful note to the living room. Mrs. Sutton Stythe was awarded the high score prize, a lovely imported candy jar.

Lee Goes on Trial Today For Murder CASE CONTINUED AMELIA, March -The case of Richard Lee, negro, Indicted with the murder of J. W. Jones, prominent dairyman, was continued today in Amelia circuit court until April 9. Postponement of the trial granted on a motion made by Valentine Southall, defense coun- sel.

Jones was found shot to death in his bed near here last January. -0- AMELIA, March 27. P-Richard Lee, negro, faced trial in Amelia circuit court today on an indictment charging him with the murder of J. W. Jones, prominent dairyman, found shot to death in his bed near here last January 8.

Lee, a farm hand on the Jones farm, has been in custody for several but was not indicted until last Monday. Commonwealth's Attorney George K. Taylor declined to discuss the case before the trial, or the evidence he expected to present against Lee today. Selection of a jury was not expected to require more than a few hours today, with probability that the case would be concluded this week. Jones was found dean in his bed.

I. Boy BLACKSBURG, March -Final tribute of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute Cadet Corps was paid this morning to F. W. Mills, of Cullen, sophomore, who died yesterday afternoon at the V. P.

I infirmary. After a brief service at 8 o'clock, fine trip to Cullen was begun. entire Head- cadet by the band, the corps without arms, except Mills's company immediately following the hearse, escorted the body out of Blacksburg. A group of classmates went to Cullen where funeral services will be held Saturday.
