He at once qualified, Mayor Fountain administering the oath.

The report of the health officer showed one death from scarlet fever, an infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson of East Fourth street. He said the home had been quarantined. He said that Professor Hard had telephoned him yesterday to the effect that a neighbor had been going to and from the Wilson home in East Fourth street where the child had died of scarlet fever.

Investigation showed that a neighbor woman had laid out the child, but further than that she had not been in tbe Wilson horns which is now under quarantine. The health officer read a letter which he had received in answer to some questions which be baa asked Secretary Probst of the State Board of Health in regard to formaldehyde and what could be taken as a standard for ice tests. The state secretary recommended a certain kind of lamp for the making of formaldehyde gas which is used as a disinfectant. He said that no rule can be laid down for ice tests. He said it would be more important to look at the condition of the pond or stream from which ice was taken, and that there was nothing about tbe place that would contaminate the water.

Tbe report was accepted. Sanitary Policeman Lemmon in his report said that he had served 141 nuisance notices since the last meeting. He said the quarantine sign had been removed from the home of George Holmes in Union street. The homes of J. A.

Jennings in East High street and Mr. Ven'able in East Fourth street are yet under quarantine. Tbe police man said he gone over the follow- i streets i the past week: East Main. West Main. Depot.

The report was OT necessary to make a single claim. JSTo further argument is needed.
