20 (INS) Higher individual corporation and excise taxes may go into effect on June 1 as a result of a "speed-up" planned today by the House Ways and Means committee. Chairman Doughton N. C), said tax hearings will probably conclude March 16 and the committee will then go into executive session to work out a bill. The committee has received requests from 200 persons to testify on President Truman's 10 billion dollar tax increase, but only about 120 of these are expected to appear. About 100 individuals want to testify on the President's request for three billion dollar boost in excise taxes.

Seek To Lower Losses If hearings are completed by March 16, the committee should be able to report out a bill and obtain House passage by mid-April. This would leave another six weeks for the Senate to act upon the measure, for conferees to reach an agreement, and for the measure to get to the White House. The Administration is expected to urge that tax increases be put into effect almost immediately upon enactment to prevent loss of revenue and a buyers' rush which is almost sure to develop as passage nears. encircled dguret THE FOLLOWING PRICED USED Will Be $100 Higher This Spring Indicate quantity ol items you ho aid hav to accommo dtit 100 layers.
