FARMER, Owner and Head Teacher Phone 160 11-1st NE Denison Reservoir Cuts Flood Losses Operation of the Denison reser-1 voir (Lake Texoma) during recent floods in the Red River Basin has materially alleviated flooding on the Red River below Denison Dam, according to recent tests released by Col. C. H.

Chorpening, district engineer. Tulsa district. Storage of more than 1,000,000 acre-feet of flood waters in the reservoir, with peak inflows exceednig 135,000 c.f.s (cubic feet per sec. ond), reduced stages on the Red River by about two feet at Arthur City, Texas and six and one-half feet at Fulton, Arkansas, the rei port shows. Flood losses prevented amounted to nearly $2,000,000 in the river valley above Fulton, aid substantial benefits were also realized below that point, Colonel Chorpening states.

These stored waters are now being released from the reservoir. Maximum releases have been about 65,000 c.I.s. Downsteam conditions permitting, the reservoir will be drawn down to power pool by about June 15. PEARSON (Continued from Page Four) of what a great blessing our public-school system is. If they did, would give greater attention they, the backbone of that system, the selection and pay of teachers, Balkanizing Pennsylvania Schools The money which financed the reconstruction work we were doin Dobro Do and other parts the Balkans came mainly from Pennsylvania, in which state I got a large part my own education.

Today that state is so backward when it comes to teachers' salaries that I am almost ashamed to admit I went to school there. Such starvation salaries are paid to Pennsylvania teachers that a progressive state like California makes recruiting raids on Penn. schools and has no trouble skimming off cream of the crop. As a result, the teacher exodus from Pennsylvania is appalling. Of course, I don't have to go to school Pennsylvania any more.

so perhaps 1 shouldn't worry. But just because 1 used to like the old state, here's a free tip to Joe Pew. Joe Grundy and the Pennsylvania manufacturers who pull the wires in the state legislature: Well educated kids don't fall for isms. The most fertile field for Communism is where the schools are the most Balkanized and Note other stale governors: poverty This is equally true in your state, too. i Roberts-Rahl Vows Are Read Mrs.

YOUR BABY AND MINE A Daily Chart Aids in Child Toilet Training By MYRTLE MEYER ELDRED Toilet training consumes a large share of the mother's attitude after the first year. It is quite understandable that for her sake, as well as the child's.

she would like to teach him to be controlled. Mrs. W. C. would like to tell other mothers how she trained her children successfully.

"When my oldest was a year old," she writes, "I began by spending a week keeping an curate record of his bowel and bladder activities. I made a time table for this. "The next week I began training him by placing ELDRED him on the toilet half hour. I did this for every several days. Then every day or so I would advance the time by fifteen minutes until I had it spaced three hours apart.

"Each time I put him on the toilet I would use a word which he soon would repeat by himself. When he was fifteen months old he was trained completely for bowels and bladder. "With my second son I used the same method but I began at eleven months and he was trained at fourteen months. I never kept them on the toilet longer than ten minutes and I never scolded for any acciidents. I am sure other mothers might profit by these experiences." I approve heartily' ol making use of a chart to determine when the child has bowel movements, instead of trying to force him into some pattern that is convenient for the mother.

He may, when he is this young, have them early in the morning before he is up or afler his nap, and there is no RISKY GENERAL. a nut reason to consider him naughty because of this behavior. The parent may have to wait until these habits end before beginning any serious training. In fact there are certain marked advantages in waiting until the 14th beginning to train for bladder. Mrs.

T. B. writes that her little girl of four ended tendancy to soil. herself when her aunt gave her four pairs of lace -trimmed ties. 'Little Miss if you soil these I'll come and take them away from you, one by she warned! The child was so proud of them she never soiled herself after that.

"I made the mistake," she continues, "of spanking my oldest and he got so he inhibited his movements because he thought he shouldn't have them. I used to read what you said but I didn't believe you. I had to learn the hard way." Our leaflet No. 65, "Toilet Behavior," may be had by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your request to Myrtle Meyer Elder in care of this newspaper. BOLTON BOLTON (Continued from Page Four) The master's degree adds $225 a year to these salaries.
