The members of Frledmis United Church of Christ had tho opportunity of worshiping al two different services on Easlor Sunday, April 1900, Those arriving at o'clock wore welcomed by mninbors of the youth fellowship, who were In charge of the mornltip's Easter Sunrise pealing of the antique church bell announced the call to worship.

Miss Lenelle Kypfer served as the pianist during the processional, and she played "Serenade" by "Skornlc- The second rail to worship was given by Jimmy Doonlg and Jerry Thormeyer as they played selected music for this impressive occasion. Tho morning Invocation was led by Cynthia Sahm and the introduction was given by Jerry Thormeyer. Stanley Meyer read the symbolism of the emblem of the Pelican. It was carried by Russell Badlng. Colleen Vogols topic dealt with the of the butterfly and Dwayne Eugler was (he Roger Badinp the story of the eniptv Arleno Dletert explained tho symbol of the rising sun and this standard bearer was Meyer.

A scripture muling Faye Drelbrodt marked the half way point of the Interesting presentation. Jimmy Boenlg read the thrilling explanation of the Crown and this emblem was capably handled by Stanley llar The symbolism of the lamb was related by Michael Sahm and Arlene Dletert was the bearer of tills banner. Eileen Helnemeyer explained the symbolism of the lily, and the standard bearer of this exquisite flower was Michael Sahrn. The display of the final symbol featured ttie beauty of the lotus blossom and Its story was told by Lvnette Krackau. This emblem was carried by Allan Drelbrodt.

Successive verses of a hymn were sung after each reading, and after the final one, Steve Vogel led the morning prayer. The morning's loose offering will be used to help meet the Youth Fellowship contribution goal for the Capital Funds CampaiRii for Eden Home and Slumber Falls. The following served during the offertory: Stanley Harborth, Ulan Drelbrodt, Russell Badlng, and Dwayne Engler, and Jerry Thormeyer received the offering. Allan Dreibrodt shared the concerns of the church with the congregation and Kathy Neumann pronounced the benediction at the close of this very impressive Easter Sunrise Worship hour. The host couple served barbecued turkey and ham complete with a festive menu. Leanne's aunt Grimm, had made a special birthday cake, a shimmering confection with tokens of Easter in pastel colors, lighted by the six tiny tapers. The twenty live guests auuuu tlielr share to this gala occasion uy bringing tempting cakes and pies. The children and young in heart enjoyed an extensive Easter egg hunt and played games and the senior guests enjoyed dominoes. On Saturday evening April 5, 19C9, Norman and Annette Walte and Hllmar and Anita Boenlg planned an ajinlversary supper honoring Roland "Woody" and Marylln Schuene ann at Sch- wammkrugs In New Braunfels.

FAMILY REUNITED Mrs. Helen Dlttmar was happy to welcome Gorman ami Ruth Greenwood and their children Joluiny and Mary. They were Joined by Jim and Patty Law and James Patrick, Paul and Barbara Harborth and their family, and this group gathered in the homu of r. and rs. Nolan Harborth for the Easter holiday.

Becky Harborth enjoyed special attention as she had a birthday. It was birthday time fcr Paul Dietert on April 7th and the members of his family enjoyed a barbecued chicken dinner with him on Easter Sunday. The list Included Leroy and Leatrlce Dle- tert and their family. Others were Mr. and Mrs.

AT THE SCHOOL The scene and mood for Easter was begun on the Thursday April 3rd. Mrs. Lily Mitchell met In the lunch room with the 1909-70 first graders, Here they enjoyed coloring pictures and hearing seasonal stories. Mrs. Mitchell was assisted by five would be teachers of the future.

The list included Sheryl Engler, Jay Morgan, Gall Helnerneyer, Margaret Brietzke and Gerald Kelley, They accompanied the tiny tots on an Easter egg hunt, and later helped serve the ice cream, cookies and milk. They also played school and games In the first grade room. The first grade students had a special treat too. They were transported by bus to Mrs. Richard Bull's home in Seguln.

She was assisted during game and refreshment time by Mrs. L. Kruckemeyer. Mrs. Connie Laird, Mrs.

Melvln Bormann and Mrs. Paulo Perez. They enjoyed refreshments after the egg hunt. Miss Kathy Dennlson second grade teacher, was assisted by Mrs. William Schrlower, Mrs.

George Herrmann, and Mrs. Nolan Ploetz in making preparations and serving refreshments alter looking for the eggs In cleverly hidden The third grade students had decorated their room for party time with the help of their teacher Miss Lucy Anderson. She was assisted by a student teacher, Miss Walker fromS.W.T.S.C. In San Marcos. An egg hunt and games were planned for the youngsters and refreshments were made and served by these room mothers, Mrs.

Frank Weathersby, Mrs. Norman Boenlg, Mrs. Marvin Tschoepe, Mrs. Melvin Demuth, Mrs. Stuart Evans, and Mrs.

Fred Brietzke. The fourth grade class left thn school grounds by bus and were given their treat In the spacious creek yard of Norman and Annette Waite, when they hunted the colorful tokens of Easter. Mrs. Luclle Sutton, their teacher, was in charge of arrangements. Tho fifth grade room was colorful with the decor of egg shell decorations, daffodils, and Illy arrangements, and egg shell mobiles.

Mrs. Eugene Thelss and Miss Irma Esparanza, a student teacher, helped In serving cup cakes miniature candy eggs, and punch. This group played bunco and the prize winners were Clinton McKinney and Betty Schwarzlose. Mrs. Joe Castillo Mrs.

Manuel Sllva and Mrs. John room mothers. BACK HOME Egan and Zynaida Bauerschlag made preparation for the arrival of their daughter Allene and her husband, Herbert Bauer- hausen of Austin. They were accompanied by Allene's daughter, Sheryl and her husband, Paul Thomason, and their son, Bryan Wade, and by Chris Ewald. They arrived during the afternoon hours.

On March 22 and 23, the Bauerschlags, the Albert Henks and the Marvin Melsters visited with Jim and "Casey" Klrchners of Mountain Home. For the noon meal the Caseys served barbecued cabrlto, at the supper hour the table held a Mexican supper with homemade tamales anc for the noon meal on Sunday fish steaks cut from the twenty five pounder caught by Jim were enjoyed. Card games were the died. Card games were tne diversion during the non-eating hours. The members of Frledens church are reminded of the men's meeting on April 13th at Bethany Church In San Antonio.

Those traditional fires wore lit for the first time In 1347. Six hundred persons participated In this year's presentation. Next year wo shall try to remind our readers of this unusual festival. Seguin Lutherans attend meet The Southern District of The Lutheran Church will hold its Ninth Annual Convention at St. John's Lutheran Church, San Antonio, April 14-17.

More than 500 pastors and lay delegates of the District's 2GO congregations In Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and New Mecixo are expected to attend the convention. A special speaker, the Kev. James Voelker, member of the Commission on Evangelism, will make two presentations on the Church In Its continuing program of Evangelism. In addition, the new vice-president ofTheAmer- Ican Lutheran Church, the Rev, David Preus, will speak on vital Issues affecting the Church today. Other representatives of the Church who will also address the convention Include Dr.

William Larsen, executive director of Theological Education; the Rev. Carroll Anderson, Lutheran Ingathering for Education; the Rev. Neal Johnson, Regional Director of Stewardship. The opening service will be field at 7:30 p.m., Monday, with Dr. V.A.

Mohr, District President, bringing the message. Dr. Roald Braullck, Pastor of St. Jolin's Lutheran Church, San Antonio, will serve as llturglst. Assistants In the Communion Service will Include the Rev.

James Otterness of Odessa, vice- president of the Southern District, the Rev. A.E. Rode of Austin, secretary of the District, and the Rev. E.A. Heye, assistant to the District President, of Austin.

Both the Lutheran Association of Southwestern Camping Corporation and Lutheran General Hospital Corporation of San Antonio will have their meetings In connection with the convention. One of the decisions to be made by the convention Is to approve or disapprove altar and pulpit fellowship with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and with the Lutheran Church In America. Attending the convention from Emanuel's Lutheran Church of Seguin, will be Pastors Daniel F. Schorlemer and John Schwartz, and Dr. William F.

Kraushaar, Mrs. Fredleln Schroeder, and Rudy Grelner, as delegates. Mrs. William Koehler Is alternate delegate. A report on the convention will be given by these delegates to their congregation shortly after they return home.

Dr. Cole presides at Dallas meeting Dr. Martin L. Cole, president of Texas Lutheran College, will preside at the 29th annual meeting of The Texas Council of Church Related Colleges meeting in Dallas today. Much of the session will be devoted to the special Pluralism and Partnership report which was prepared last year for the Coordinating Board of the Texas College and University System.

The general session opens at 2 p.m. in the Baker Hotel with four panelists discussing the Pluralism and Partnership report. Panelists include Chancellor Harry W. Ransom from The University of Texas; Dr. Willis M.

Tate, president of Southern Methodist University; Dr. Ralph W. Steen, president of Stephen F. Austin State College and Dr. James Laurie, president of Trinity University.
