COLLAR VALVE NEW PUT BERKELEY New Self-GrindinjrValve and Leakless Faucet Creates Stir in Building Industry. The local building Industry le following with Interest, the establishment In the Eastbay of the Collar Valve manufacturers of new self-grinding valves and, leak -less faucets, the inventions of Lloyd recent statement reads: "The Collar Valve has been Incorporated by prominent Eastbay businessmen, including L. Collar, Inventor and W. C. Crook, Jr. The plant Is now in operation at San Pablo avenue and Bancroft Way. "The ordinary heavy-duty valve usually requires" grinding after six weeks, arcording to a letter received by the company's engineers from the Pacific Gas Klectrlc the Collar self-grindr ing valve, used for grueling duty under adverse conditions, has given satisfactory service over an uninterrupted period of 37 months.

"Competent engineers assert that these new valves and faucets will eventually supersede others. What this 'will mean to the Eastbay can at this time be only a matter of conjecture but a survey of Industrial conditions covering the United States reveals a vast potential market. With the entire world for its market, ft is apparent that the new corporation may easily become a major Pacific coast industry. "The Collar self-grinding valves and faucets differ from other types in that they close with the flow and open against it. ijjfcue to their construction, they maintain a ground joint which keeps them trom leaking.

When the valve is in a wide-open posltIon( there are no loose 'parts to rattle. Due to the fact that it closes from the bottom instead of the top, the valve easily withstands extreme changes in temperature without injury. In addition, it can be practically dissembled while under pressure, according to statement by Lloyd D. Collar. "Every step taken in the development of these new products has been checked, said Collar.

Thorough tests under intensely severe actual working conditions have marked construction of both the! valve and faucet from blueprint to actual production. The manufacturing of valves and fau cets is a gigantic Industry, hereto fore confined to Chicago and the east. is every reason to be lieve that the Collar valves and faucets will be the means of trahs-porting part of this business to the Eastbay.
