On a recent Saturday sales on the New York Stock Exchange totaled about 600,009 shares. The Daily Express estimates that the brokerage on this turnover probably amounted to 40,000, that Is roughly 3200,000. Had the London Exchange been open the Dally Express estimates that It is fair to assume it might have done at least half as much business as New York did, and insists that business which is missed on Saturday cannot be done the following week. Members of the London Exchalge are divided on the question, but the "openers" are making a fight which they insist must eventually overcome the "non-openers," as they say both self-interest and national interest demand a change. 1 STEEL.
