and ship call channel, the Federal Radio Commission announces the granting of seven construction permit and licenses to new stations in the southern radio zone. Four of the aircraft radio licenses permit the use of the foreign call letters by 'these entrants In the Dole flight to Honolulu. KRK. N'orman A. Goddard; KWS, George Hearst: KOE.

LICENSES ISSUED The permits and licenses were issued to program stations constructed prior to the passage of the radio act last All the stations are Invthe district of Commissioner Sykes, who explained that they have been held up pending action on older stations; that the commission feels that these stations will render a real public service in states, which heretofore haye had very limited broadcasting facilities, and that with their low power they will not create material interference. It has been the stated policy of the commission not to license new broadcasters, but exceptions were made in these instances, since the stations had already been projected. Hereafter traffic can take care of itself on the opening day of the university as tar as Policeman Louis D.Browning Is concerned. EILIT Long period licenses will not be issued to broadcasting stations for some time to come, according to Federal Radio Commissioner Henry A. Bellows. When the present licenses expire on August 15 new licenses for sixty dys will be Issued, which in turn will expire on October 15. Then again sixty-day licenses will be issued. According to Bellows, the idea is to prevent the situation from becoming frozen to the point where the commission cannot step in and make whatever changes seem desirable as a result of changing conditions.

If for any reason the present allocations should prove unsatisfactory, the commission would be in a position to figure out, a new scheme and put it into effect without the complications that would be bound to result If three-year licenses were granted.
