Her artistry was shown to good advantage in the Sonata in B-flat, Major, K. 333 by Mozart.

Great skill was displayed in her interpretations of Debussy's "Reflets dans l'eau" and "L'isle Joyeuse." her program was very well-received by 50 members and guests. A short business session was conducted by president, Mrs. Berl Carlton. The group plans to continue its study of the opera "Tales ci Hoffman" by Offenbach this earning year and give excerpts from the complete work sometime next Winter. Mrs.

Austin Flinn will become the first member of the honorary membership list. Tri Psi Stages Annual Violet Luncheon At Club One of the loveliest attains of the season was the forty first annual Violet hmcheon of Tri Psi sorority, Saturday at Hillview Country Club. The graduating Tri Delta Seniors were honored guests: Miss Katy Daniels. Miss Deanna Tanselle and Miss Alice Barnard. Three of the girls.

Miss Nancy Pitkvist. Mrs. John (Sue Handy) Beard and Miss Doris Jean CofiVy, were not able to attend the luncheon. Mrs. Wallace Meredith presented each girl with a silver spoon.

Tri Delta daughters were guests and were introduced by their mothers. Miss Sophia Starr of Connecticut was also a guest. The Tri Tones. Phyllis Coffey, Sandra Cook, and Jane Wedding sang several numbers accompanied by Ann 3 Tjevr ENGINE: Briggs StraHon h.p. 4 cycle.

Robert Chupp. Some very original ideas were accomplished with ribbon, real and artificial flowers, etc. The most unusual bennet award went to Mrs. Edwin Doming. 50-Year Members Honored Four members were honored at this meeting for 50 years of mem bcrship and for their fine musical contributions to the music of this community.

Mrs. Walker Maguire presented each with a yellow and gold corsage as she commented on the talents of these ladies. Of Mrs. Leslie Barrow, she pointed out her versatility as organist, pianist, a singer and composer. Ballads are her specialty in composition and the musicale has had the privilege of enjoying these a number of times.

She is still organist at the Grace Methodist church, where she has been for so many years. Mrs. William A. Burton was cited for her very successful work as choir organist and director combined, which is very rare. This she did for many years at the First PLAN AUGUST WEDDING An August wedding is being planned by Miss Helen Kay Neese and John Myron Jennings.

The ceremony will be Sunday August 12, in the Crooked Creek Baptist church. The bride-to be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Meredith S. Neese, of 4020 West 94th street, New Augusta, and parents of the future bridegroom are Mr.

and Mrs. Byron II. Jennings, of Little River Landing, Canton, and formerly of Prince's Lake. Miss Neese is a Junior at Franklin College and a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Her fiance attended Franklin College and Indiana University Extension.

WHITELAXD The engagement and approaching marriage of Miss Janet Sue Scott and Clarence Richard Frazier have been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Scott, of Whiteland, R. R. 1 The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. John Frazier, of Whiteland. The wedding will take place in the Greenwood Christian church on Sunday, June 3, at 2:30 o'clock. went on the week-long educational tour. This is Mrs.

McLaughlin's second year to have a state winner. Streightoff. Reads History Mrs. Wayne Secrest read a history of the Franklin Tri Psi chapter which had been prepared by Mrs. Marshall Barnard, Among the interesting points mentioned were that, since its founding on May 4.

1920, this chapter has provided four national officers': Mrs. J. II. Tariton and Mrs. Will White have been national presidents: Mrs.

Essie Mullendore, national treasurer: and Mrs- Omer Hougham, secretary. Mrs. Hougham was the first president of the chapter: Mrs. O. L.

Vandivier, vice-president: Mrs. Will Flinn, treasurer, Mrs. Lilburn Griffith, secretary, and Mrs. B. L.

Mullendore, chaplain. Mrs. C. F. Pollitt provided the first edition of Triad and Mary Blume (Mrs.

John) Webb wrote the prayer and poem in the ritual and composed several songs, among them the present national Tri Psi song, "Tri Psi to You!" Mrs. Vandivier established the chapter in Miami. Fta. There are now 45 Tri Psi chapters in the United States, and one in Toronto. Still LiTing Charter members of Franklin chapter still living include Mrs.

Hougham. Mrs. Fremont Miller. Mrs. Essie Mullendore, Mrs.

Carl F. Pavne, and Mrs. George I. White. The tables were beautifully decorated with Spring violets.

Pin on holders with violets were the favors. Mrs. Marion Adams, president, acted as toastmistress. Members of the committee in charge of the luncheon were Mrs. Hester Graham, Mrs.

Clair Bogard and Mrs. Gilbert Coffey Franklin, Mrs. James P. Eagleson. Mrs.

Homer Asher and Mrs. Wallace Meredith of Indianapolis: and Mrs. Russell Cortelyou of Shelbyviile. Starring Receptions Honor Dean, Mrs. Brown Dr.

and Mrs. Harold W. Richardson were hosts at their home. Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, at receptions honoring the new dean of Franklin College, Dr. M.

S. Diggs announce the April 16 wedding of their daughter, Patricia, and Jackie Dunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Dunn, in Los Angeles, Cal. Both the bride and bridegroom were graduated from Franklin High School.

They plan to live in Los Angeles. Brown, Home superintendent, then offered grace. The delicious dinner culminated in a pretty dessert, with the figure 50 in gold, topping the ice cream, and cake. Mrs. Burton read an original poem entitled "The Love Bug that Bit in 1912." Two songs, "Let Me Call You Sweetheart" and Mrs.

Burton's parody of "Put On Your Old Gray Bonnet," were sung by the guests afler spontaneous and jolly responses from the guests of honor. Mrs. Titus Lowe was chairman of general arrangements and program. Reba Burton, assistant chairman, was responsible for the: decorations. The residents of the Home will honor these same three couples with a reception on June 2 from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Sunset Lounge in the west wing of the Home.

Dance Auditions For Scholarship INDIANAPOLIS Dance auditions for the Margaret Sear Rosen-blith Memorial Award will be held on Sunday. May 27, at 2 p.m. (EST), at Jordan College of Music (North Branch). They are open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 24, who is a native of Indiana, or who is now living or studying in Indiana. The winner of the auditions will receive a cash award of $250 which is to be used only iter further study in dance.

If the award winner will be entering Butler as a dance major this Fall or is enrolled at the present time, the award will include' tuition for one year. If the winner is not in this category, there will be an additional award of a tuition scholarship. S. 31 AT GREE-VWOOD OPEN 6:30 The 100 guests at the Saturday evening party included college faculty and staff members and their frmilies.

Approximately 200 friends cf the college called during the Sunday afternoon reception from 3 to 6 p.m., coming from Columbus, Edinburg, Franklin, Greenwood, Indianapolis and Shelbyviile. President and Mrs. Richardson greeted their guests at the door and several members of the faculty and administrative staff took turns receiving with the Browns in the music room. Two attractive refreshment tables were used, one in the dining room with a centerpiece of white ani jLold Spring flowers, and one in the library decked with red and white flowers. Women faculty members and wives of staff members took tvms in presiding at the punch bowls.

Baptist church. She is also well-known as an excellent accompanist on either piano or organ and in years past studied voice and was a fine soprano soloist. She is still busy teaching a large group of piano students and accompanying. Mrs. Leroy Cooke studied piano extensively and first appeared in Matinee Musicale as a piano soloist.

In later years she has been More active in the vocal field, especially in ensemble work. She was also cited for being one of the main supporters of the Musicale and her faithfulness as a member good reason for the successful continuance of this group. Mrs. Edwin Deming has been an outstanding contralto soloist. Mrs.

Maguire said of her that it always a thrill to accompany her when she performed, which she did so willingly and graciously; The tables were beautiful with Spring flowers, birds and nests and miniature Spring bonnets hanging from flowery branches. Hostesses were Mrs. Carlton, Mrs. Frank Streightoff, Mrs. Chupp and Mrs.

46 Hopewell Brownie Troop No. 46 met after school Tuesday, May 1. Meeting was opened by the second grade president, Becky Ramsey. We said the Brownie Promise and Pledge to the Flag. We sang songs then we talked about the Shrine Circus.

We played a game and had refreshments of candy bars brought by Jo Ellen Burks. We closed our meeting with our Friendship Circle and our Tunnel. Reporter. Jan Summers. Alaska Resident Visits Relatives Mrs.

Helen McLaughlin, of Juneau, Alaska, spent the past weekend with her mother, Mrs. Carrie Harrell. and her sister, Mrs. John C. Mitchell, and family.

She was on her way home after accompanying Miss Susan Neal, also of Juneau, on the Betty Crocker tour, including New York city, Washington, D. and Williams-bi rg, Va. Miss Neal was the state of Alaska winner in the Betty Crocker contest and won a $1,500 Home maker scholarship. Each state inner and a faculty companion those features for Convenience Cooking Pitch-In Supper Planned By P.T.A. TRAFALGAR The Trafalgar will hold a pitchin supper 6:30 p.m., Monday, in the school cafeteria.

Following the supper, a short business meeting will bo held. The program will include a concert by the High School Band, directed by Miss Maxine Snell, at 8 p.m., in the gymnasium. Hear Illustrated Talk On Hospital Miss Georgianna Hardin, assisted by Mrs. Maurice" Dragoo. entertained the members of the Shiloh Community Church Evening Circle at her home Thursday evening.

Mrs. J. T. Dunn, president, conducted the business meeting. The-following were appointed to serve on the committee for the porch of the parsonage: Mrs.

Merrill J. Hendrickson. Mrs-, Robert Davis, and Mrs. Loren Beard. Mrs.

Robert Hovxl had charge of the devotions. Miss Susan Ott. as a volunteer representative the Johnson County Hospital Auxiliary presented a talk illustrated with slides taken in the various departments of the hospital. Miss Ott stated that the hospital was opened in 1947 with 65 beds. The north wing was added in 1956, making a total of 12S beds and 21 bassinets.

From 1950 with the population of the county at 25.000 to 1960 with the population of 43.000. there has been an increasv of 67 per cent. Sixteen doctoTs were using the hospital in 1953 and now there are 32 who are granted privileges. The hospital has used no tax support for operation sir.ee 1953. The number of employees is 280.

There is an ever increasing need of more room and plans are being made to add it. The hostesses served a dessert course at the end of the meeting. Your Water Make Like Mud Pies? Dinner Is Given For Three Couples Three couples living in cottages at the Methodist Home were honored at a golden wedding dinner party given Friday evening at Zaring's Hearthstone Inn by the Cottagers. Dr. and Mrs.

Roy Smiley. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Kemp, and Dr. and Mrs.

Sumner L. Martin were all married in 1912. The thirteen other cottagers, and Miss Alice Krairse. Home manager, and Miss Marie White, office manacer. made up the total of 21 guests seated at the table.

At the top of the table was an arch of white satin, decorated with lilies-of the-valley, with two golden bells hanging from the center. Under the arch, on the table were hand painted, ceramic figurines of bride and groom, with wedding attendants. The three honored couples were usbered in and stated under this arch. Place cards were white with a golden metal beH in one corner. Mr.

Charles Sharp, as master of ceremonies, proposed a toast to the special guests. Dr. A. M. 4- Miss Sancy Graham Chosen Dance Queen EDINBURG Miss Sancy Graham was named Sports Queen at the annual, spring sports dance held in the old, school gym here Saturday night.

She was selected by members cf the track and baseball squads. The dance, held from 9 p.m. to midnight, was emceed by Jim Shelton of WIBC, Indianapolis. The Del Mars dance orchestra played for the dance.
