Called the Gospel Voices, the quintet was composed of Bess Jones, pianist; Margaret Schievelbein, soprano; Nelda Bueche, alto; Raymond Mattfeld, bass; and Paul E. Willmann, tenor. Paul informed me that it took 14 weeks for the five to complete a round of visitations. They perform at four homes in Seguin, two in Gonzales, and one time each at First Baptist Church in Seguin, the Seguin High Rise, and nursing homes in Stockdale, Nixon, New Braunfels and Schertz. It is a non-denominational group.

We thank those people for giving of their time and talent and we congratulate Earl Rives, recent recipient of the Spirit of Seguin Award. Earl was recognized for his leadership in the Keep Seguin Beautiful campaign. Evidently, many have heeded the publicity aimed at the project, for we have seen signs of beautification at various locations. Just this week we became aware of the flpwers in the planter boxes at Friedeck's Cafeteria and Sausage House and the large blooming flowers in front of Zella's Liquors. Also, we noted new flowers, popping up in front of the Food Court at Five Courts Mall and Mickey Ferrell Realtors.

As we write about spring flowers, we think about the new colors being shown in spring styles this year. We've noted such shades as sunflower, berry, lilac, cornflower blue and banana. But to really bone up on the spring colors and fashions, attend the show at Hall at the First United Methodist Church in Seguin this Tuesday. Let Rebecca Moravec and her give you a preview of what is showing customers. Tickets! are available at the church office at each.

There will be two seatings, one at 11:45 a.m. and the other at 12:45 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Christian Cupboard Berate, Lee and Lloyd Engelke drove to; the Schulenberg Civic Center on 15 to attend the 50th weddin.g, anniversary of Gilbert and Nelda H'uth, former local residents. Also attending from this community were Clarence Engelke and Doris Fifty years ago Bemice, Doris and Clarence were part of the Huth's, wedding party. Bernice was a bridesmaid; Doris, maid of honor; and Clarence, groomsman.

Others in the were Walter and Lillian and Sherman Schriewer, now deceased. This Valentine bride and groom were joined by other relatives from Victoria, Universal City and New Among the guests were Lee and Bernice's son, Roger, and his family wife Michelle and children, Trista and Rebeca of New Braunfels. Bernice said that Nelda's mother Linda Engelke was also there to celebrate with her daughter and son-in-law, just as she had 50 years ago. Houseguests of Jeff and Dominique Dickey reside in Spykenisse and Boxtel, The Netherlands. They are Dominique's mother Margreet Okkerse and daughter, Linda of Spykenisse and Dominique's grandmother, Oma Van Leeuwen of Boxtel.

None have ever been in Seguin and this is 11-year-old Linda's first trip to the United States. Since this is vacation time for students, she was able to come with the others. The trio arrived Friday and have been taking in the sights of interest around here and San Antonio. They plan to visit other nearby places next week. Tuesday they will go to a show and on Thursday their plans include lunch at the Moore House.

Naturally, the visitors look forward to seeing Dominique's brother Robert who resides in San Antonio. He is a skier at Sea World and probably will have a practice session while the visitors are here. Linda should be delighted with a trip there. Welcome to our visitors from Holland. In last week's column we mentioned the Chamber banquet that was held on Valentine's Day.

We thought that our readers might enjoy reading about the women attired in red: Rosa Lee Gotthardt wore a long red gown while others chose shorter red dresses, Raynelle Stautzenberger, Idalen Donegan, Pam Tackett, Debbie Moeller and Carole Moring Rueter. Selecting black and white were Delores Roensch and Jeanette Engelke while Linda Rushing chose an emerald green dress and Josephine Bartels, lavender and purple. Wearing all white were Pat Irvine and Evamarie Berry. Thinking that Kelton and Jo Ann Lange were swell friends to have, Roland Naumann was happy that he had been called by the couple and invited out for his birthday dinner. Instead, the Langes, Roland and wife Nora ended up at the Emanuel's Lutheran Church for a surprise 60th birthday party on Feb.

15. Honoring the celebrant were Nora and the Naumann children, Thomas, Julie Naumann Sheldon, and her husband Chuck and their children, Jennifer and Michelle. The invitations stated that there would be cajun food and music, and so it was. Nora had purchased a cookbook from the New Orleans Cooking School and using it, she prepared jambalaya and French bread for the main part of the dinner. The birthday cake was chocolate with white icing and decorated with a couple playing tennis.

Inscribed on the cake were the numerals "60." All of the candles were blown out, thanks to a little assistance from Jennifer and Michelle. During the party, cajun music was played. Having a good time looking over pictures of Roland and cousins were five guests who were his cousins. While getting details of the event from Nora, we learned that their granddaughter, Jennifer Sheldon, will be one of two candle lighters at' the memorial service to be held oni March 6 at the Alamo. Featured ing the presentation of Heroes of the' Alamo will be Children of the' Republic Texas with Liz Carpenter' serving as guest speaker.

Jennifer is currently serving a.s: fifth vice president of the Alamo' Mission Chapter in San Antonio. Her mother and grandmother are both members of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Shortly before Randy and Eddie: Hester's son was born, Eddie fell and broke her foot. She had to wear a cast and was fearful that she would still be wearing it when the: baby arrived. However, when.

Remington Beauregard was born on Feb. 17, the cumbersome cast had been removed, and all went well. Welcoming the 8 pound, 14 ounce little one along with his, parents, were brother Jon grandparents, Ed and Carroll Caddell of Dewville, Norris and Sylvia Engelke of Seguin and James and, Mary Jo Hester of Cibolo. Waiting their turn to see the baby were the great grandmothers, Waxier of Seguin and Jessie Mae; Hester of Nixon. There were a number of former classmates attending Tony Bugai's See Families, Pg..
