Nuhn and the City Council a petition requesting that an election be called to extend the limits at a Council meeting Monday afternoon. "You know who we are and why we are here," Scruggs told Mayor Nuhn as he handed him the petition. The city's population would jump to 12,000 persons overnight by the extension of the city limits according to the Jaycees plan.

At least 10 subdivisions and two large industries, as well as Milltown, would be brought within the city limits. This brings the total income from sales tax for the past year to $279,454.16, the largest amount brought into the city since the tax was started in 1966. The New Braunfels High School AAAA band, directed by Joe Rogers, earned its fifth consecutive Sweepstakes Award March 29 at the Region 18 Concert and Sightreading Contest in The AAA band, directed by Joe Alvarado, earned its fourth consecutive Special Award March 28.

The bands in the past seven years, have earned 28 First Divisions out of a possible 29 in Regional competition. Moved from the Rock Street field where it was built about 1850, the 65-foot long log barn will become a part of a Conservation Society complex of early structures built by German immigrants, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Welsch bought the barn and have given it to the society for the education and enjoyment of future generations. The largest logs are 13 inches in diameter at the base and 9 inches at the top, about 16 feet long.

Rafters are logs spaced 30 inches on center, fastened at the ridge line with mortise and tenon joints and with wooden pegs. At the eaves, four-inch squareheaded nails fasten rafters to the top log in the wall. Roof sheeting is of rough-sawed cypress planks covered with cypress shingles. Edmund Timmermann, 495 S. Chestnut, signed the forms making the board of trustees the guardians of the trust given in memory of their daughter, Doris Timmermann. The interest from the $10,000 trust fund is to be used for scholarships to students of New Braunfels Highs School. The scholarships are for students not necessarily in the upper rank of their class, to pursue further education in college, business, or trade schools.
