Nuhn and the City Council a petition requesting that an election be called to extend the limits at a Council meeting Monday afternoon. "You know who we are and why we are here," Scruggs told Mayor Nuhn as he handed him the petition. The city's population would jump to 12,000 persons overnight by the extension of the city limits according to the Jaycees plan.

At least 10 subdivisions and two large industries, as well as Milltown, would be brought within the city limits. Sub-divisions which would be brought in include Highlands Park, Landa Park Htghlands Number One and Two, Morningside Acres, Bergfeld Addition, Blue Bonnet Park, Lone Star and Wallace. Miss Billie Lou Luckett has been named a duchess to the Texas College annual Cotton Style Show and Ball at on Friday, April 18th. Her escort will be Jack Krueger, of New Braunfels. Krueger is a junior at the Archives Annonymous college and 1st sergeant of Company Field Artillery.

Purpose of the Cotton Ball is to raise funds to provide outstanding agricultural students with tours of the world's cotton producing regions. Duchesses represent southwest conference colleges, Miss Joan Jester, daughter of the governor, will represent College as Duchess of the Agronomy Society. 25 years ago (1972) Myra Lee Adams Goff The city received a check for $79,542.79 for sales tax for the fourth quarter of 1971.... This brings the total income from sales tax for the past year to $279,454.16, the largest amount brought into the city since the tax was started in 1966. The New Braunfels High School AAAA band, directed by Joe Rogers, earned its fifth consecutive Sweepstakes Award March 29 at the Region 18 Concert and Sightreading Contest in The AAA band, directed by Joe Alvarado, earned its fourth consecutive Special Award March 28.

The bands in the past seven years, have earned 28 First Divisions out of a possible 29 in Regional competition. Moved from the Rock Street field where it was built about 1850, the 65-foot long log barn will become a part of a Conservation Society complex of early structures built by German immigrants, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Welsch bought the barn and have given it to the society for the education and enjoyment of future generations. The largest logs are 13 inches in diameter at the base and 9 inches at the top, about 16 feet long.

Rafters are logs spaced 30 inches on center, fastened at the ridge line with mortise and tenon joints and with wooden pegs. At the eaves, four-inch squareheaded nails fasten rafters to the top log in the wall. Roof sheeting is of rough-sawed cypress planks covered with cypress shingles. Apex of the roof is 17 1.2-feet above the floor, and walls are 11 feet high. Mr.

The New Braunfels Independent School District Board of Trustees accepted a 10,000 trust fund for scholarships from the parents of a former New Braunfels High School student Tuesday before swearing in the new trustees and electing new officers of the Mr. and Mrs.

Edmund Timmermann, 495 S. Chestnut, signed the forms making the board of trustees the guardians of the trust given in memory of their daughter, Doris Timmermann. The interest from the $10,000 trust fund is to be used for scholarships to students of New Braunfels Highs School. The scholarships are for students not necessarily in the upper rank of their class, to pursue further education in college, business, or trade schools. Howard Krueger, is to appear at a concert of choral and bell music at First Protestant United Church of Christ Tuesday, April 18, 8 p.m., in the sanctuary. Dr. W. Leslie Pugh, pastor of the church, invites all in the community to attend.
