Arise from the Ashes At about 2:15 Thursday morning fire was discovered in the loft of the Cosand livery barn and although everyone responded promptly it had such a start that nothing could be done but to ssve the adjoining buildings By much hard work the buildings across the street and the alley were saved but it looked several times as though the town would be wiped out completey as the wind changed four times during the fire and blazing sparks were blown all over town The Yellowstone livery the Peerless saloon the Jacob Seel Saloon ond the John Gund Brewing office and storage together with out buildings and sheds small barns etc were completely destroyed The Yellowstone Hotel barber shop and the Mondak Mercantile build ing were quite badly scorched and several windows broken out by the terrific heat and while a bad fire we were lucky in not having it get to the adjoining buildings or the entire business portion of the town would have been wiped out We do not know this writing
