-5t. 2-M SUNDAY Oafelanu Cri&uhe JANUARY 8, 1928 PARK mi APARTMENTS (TOMPLETED Pacific Coast-Building Co. Opens Motlel Structure; . Visitors Invited. Announcing the completion of the Park Lane' apartments at 413 Perkins street, just off Grand avenue, Leo Schn ortzreiih. president of the Pacific Coast Building company, its builder and designer, is already planning his next development, a reinforced concrete seven tory apartment building in the Lake dietricr. Regarding the structure just completed and the future construction contemplated, Schwor-tsreleh states:.- "The Park Lane is the most artistic of the many houses already completed in the Eastbay by our company and was designed to he notable even among the many already excellent apartments of the Lake Merritt section; The exterior of the building is fashioned from old Roman architecture and pre-ents a front of golden brown face-brick with broad ovt--hanging dlas of imitation stone flanking a highly ornamental marquis' and wrought irbn fire escape. Column and arch effects are introduced along the automobile entrance and" side of the structure. Passing below the marquis with its amber stained glass and through a wide brick arch one enters a vestibule of marble floors in black and white and with wall decorations of ornamental castings. Through the mahogany French door of beveled plate glass flanked with side windows in keeping a lobby treated with Roman columns, arch effects, artistic castings " is reached. Facing the arches are large Belgian plate mirrors with the walls themselves carried out in block effects to blend with the rest of the decoration. In point of decoration the Park Lane is much superior to our other well known properties such as the Chancellor Arms and the Celilia Apartments. The Park Lane ballroom in its fin-ish and decoration is worthy of any hotel and is only one of, the privileges extended to ' tenants of the house. It will be found particularly convenient and in constant demand for bridge games and various other private entertainments. "Throughout the house the finish and decoration are of an equal high Order and many innovations gained First Deals Of New Year Are Recorded The John P. Holland organization recorded probably the first real "estate deals q.f the new year in three different counties. All papers were recorded simultaneously in Alameda, Sonoma and Santa Clara counties at 8 o'clock Tuesday morning, January 2. Holland states: "The properties consisted of a large business block and apartment building midway between Lake Merritt and the new Oakland high school on Park boulevard, which was purchased by Jlrs. Marie F. Kabe. Involved in the exchange were a residence and hotel site in Mountain View, Santa Clara county, and valuable holdings in Lakeshore Highlands. Piedmont. "Another transaction involved the corner of College avenue and Beaver street, Santa Rosa, the former home of E. C. Hunt, secretary-treasurer of the Western Title Insurance company of San Francisco, and regarded as one of the show places of the City of Roses. The new owner, who is already occupying the home, is L. E. Roof. An apartment-residence located at 1001 Spring street, Santa. Rosa, was accepted "as part payment. "These transactions,, first recorded deals of the new year in three counties, approximated 1100,-000." in my experience as a decorator in New York have been introduced. Though stress has been made particularly on these decorative features those which provide convenience and comfort for the guests have by no means been overlooked. Frigi-daire electric refrigeration, steam heat, hot water, plenty Of buHt-ins, large closet spaces, Murphy type beds, including all the proven requisites for the apartment house dweller have been incorporated in the design and construction. Public inspection of the building at any time is invited. ''Our building program for this year is the largest for our company since starting its operations in the Eastbay. Aside from the seven story structure which will be unexcelled by any strictly commercial apartment house Jn Oakland several other buildings are tentatively being planned. The 'grand feature of our major project will be an enlargement of our present ballroom ideas into an immense and beautiful Italian garden. Details for the decoration conforming to classic architecture are now being developed and we feel justified in stating that this next structure will be one to be pointed out aag show place in this community." oooooeooeco60soseoooQooooooo6coseooecoooooor ,f rsooc : PARK LANE I APARTMENTS I !; 4 1 5 Perkins St. 8 Off Grand Ave. - b I Ready for Occupancy fi ' Comprising the latest and most mod- & - 9k -J a A X i em a 8 x &CSGGCCGGOGC partment Frigidaire, Ballroom, Roof Garden, Large Tapestry Paneled Living Rooms, Unusual Closet Space.
