This hymn was written at Jena, by Samuel Bodigast, in 1675, for a sick friendj whe composed the melody to which iris set fc What God dotb. it is all well done His will upright abiding Since he has traced my coarse began I will go on confiding. My God is -f-Who holdeth me. I will not tarn com plainer At such a wise ordainer. What God doth, it is all wetl done-He never more will leave me: In righteous paths he laadeth on.

And ne'er will He deceive me With patience still I meet his III days he timely close th. That ran as He dispoaeta. God doth, it is all well done His ear will be unfailing A healer, and a wondrous one. Will not mistake my ailing. No poisons His For remedies, nis troth is my foundation, i His sraoa my whole salvation.

What God" dotb. if is all well done He is my light and being More evil He can mean me done I bow to His decreeing. Through weal or woe. Time still will show. Which everything revealeth.

How faithfully He dealeth. What God doth, it is all well done If I mast drink the chalice The bitter cup which I would shun My shrinking soul He rallies And firmly placed. rM Ms heart shall tasta That sweet peace ia believing, jr Which softens dowa all grieving. What God doth, it is all well done-Strong shall He make and find me. Rough ways I may be forced to ran.

Washington specials say The proposed substitution of Chase and Hancock for Seymour and Blair is only spoken of seriously here among the Conservative Republicans, who are said to be gradually turning over to the Kadical party again in the hope of secur ing otnee.

A prominent Democrat a particular friend of Mr. Johnson as sures me that no such change is desired by tne The National Intelligencer favors a withdrawal of Seymour and Blair, and suggests that one might be taken up at this late day with whom a victory could be gained by the Democracy. A perfect uproar exists here in conse quence of these rumors and theories. rhe President has agreed to let the recent order concerning elections in the unreconstructed states drop entirely, as he feela confident that Grant will be elected. A Philadelphia dispatch says the pro posed movement to withdraw Seymour and Blair meets with but little counten ance there, though some prominent Democrats would like to see McClellan and Hendricks nominated, and believe such ticket would have been successful if put forward last July.

4. Unase, Han cock and Ksaecrans are all well spoken of in this connection. The following is an answer to a dis patch from- this city, asking whether a proposition for a change in the Democratic Presidential candidate wa prompted by the Democracy in New York: New York, Oct 15 Jonah D. The presiding officer of each branch of Con gress nas announced an adjournment until November lutb.

-rnlt Blair. St. Louii'Oct 16. Gen. Blair arrived here this noon, and freely declares to bis friends that he has written a letter to the effect that he is ready to with draw from the field at any moment it is thought by the National Executive Com mil tee, or the party leaders that the success of the party will be assured thereby.

On the other hand it is posi tively stated by several of Gen. Blair friends that be has already resigned, and that his letter has been in tbe hands of his father or the National Dem ocratic Committee for a week past. The Evening Dispatch, which is sup posed to specially represent Blair, de- 1 nies tbe resignation, but expresses tne opinion that should it become the' manifest desire of the Democratic party that such a course should be pursued, both Blair and Seymour would withdraw at onca Whatever the fact in the ease may be there is intense excitement here among tbe JJomocrata. Nothing else has been talked of this afternoon Curses loud and deep have been hurled against the movement As regards Chan-there is a variety of opinions. Som-believiDg he would carry the party through in triumph, while others say as between Chase and Grant they will vote for Grant The State Executive Committee has been in session to-day, but the result of their deliberations has not transpired.

Tne World en Blair. New York, Oct 16. The World edi torily says the Democratic party evidently has evidently been injured by aspersions cast upon it through the indiscreet letter of Blair to which has been successfully used by the Bepub-licans. It says it is but simple justice that tbe party should be cleared of these aspersions, and says the party asa body has no other means of clearing itself of this injurious imputation than by futile contradictions in its public journals, but there are individuals who can extinguish this calumny in a moment and silence it forever, and this must be done if we are to win this election. This is a time for plain talk, and we hope we have spoken intelligibly enough for those whom it most concerns to take our meaning.

Co baa Affairs.
