apriivl no Moving is going on very rapidly in our neighborhood. Melvin Hoglo moved to near Philadelphia lat week. We are sorry to lose such a good neighbor. Our school closed last week, being Mrs. Barrett's second term.

Fratik Stutsman, of near Philadelphia, attended the social at Melvin tingle's Monday night. Flora Comstoek, of Fountaintown, has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Jasper Jones, for the past week. r. Coleman Pope will move to Greenfield in the near future.

Our school closed Wednesday, which was taught by W. T. Orr. The patrons surprised him by coming in just hefore noon, with their baskuts Idled with good things to eat, ami of course quite a good time fallowed. The afternoon was spent in literary work, such as declamations, dialogues, ani all present were well paid for their being there.

Niles rebuilding his store room which was destroyed by tire some time ago. We will do all we can to help him along. We have now got a traveling minstrel troupe. "Doctor Shop" was rendered by the Company at the Conklin school house, Thursday night. The excellence of their acting, the vigor and correctness of their singing, the nic discrimination and complete attainment of the principals in their parts, has not been equal there in a long time, if ever.

The music rendered was excellent, interspersed with sweet solos by Mr. Walker. We wish the Company a grand success in the future. Catfish. A Wonder Worker.

J. F. Kauclitt, the energetic and ellicient teacher, lias spared no I pains to make his a model school, and has won for himself, many friends and admirers. Miss Anna Frost will attend school at Jreontield, alter the close of school Independent. IJuakkk.

M. R. A. members, Cockrell and Moore, being of Democratic antecedents, voted for Gen. Palmer.

The Democrats of Illinois have a ri trllt to rj0jce over the election of Gen. Palmer, for he is a good and able man. He was born in Scott county, in 1S17, and emigrated to Illinois many years ago. Gov. Hovey refused to commission the newly elected board of trustees of the Eastern Hospital for the insane, located at Richmond, but notwithstanding this fact, the members of the board filed their bond with the Secretary of State, took the oath of office and assumed charge of th Hospital.

The Superintendent tendered his resignation and it will be considered on the 10th of April next. Mr. Marsh, of this place, was elected President of the board. Message of Gov. Hovey.

On Saturday evening last, the Fee and Salary bill, as pussed by the senate and House, was sent to Gov. Hovey for his approval or rejection. On Monday morning last, he sent to the House, in which the bill originated, his veto of the same.
