THC MAZOftPCMIT viewer's choice Why are some shows excluded from the Emmys? Q. When I was a kid in the '50s, I had a hobby of collecting movie and TV stars' pictures. I would write the studios and ask for my favorite ones. After all these years I've managed to hang onto them. Are they of any value? Are there collectors out there who would appreciate them? R.C.G., Roland, Ark.

A. You might find someone who would appreciate them, but they really are of little intrinsic value. Q. There is a free trip riding on the correct answer to this question: What is the name of the actress who played Maria in the movie Sister Act My boyfriend is saying it's Tori Spelling and I am saying it is not. Who is correct? M.W., Nassau, Bahamas A.

You are the soul of correctness. It wasn't Ms. Spelling, it was Alanna Ubach. Q. Is the movie The Scarlet Pimpernel out on video? My local store doesn't have it listed.

I remember seeing it about 12 years ago. L.B., Benton, Ark. A. There have been two versions of thai story, and both are available on Your store should be able to order them for you. The original movie, from Dick '34, starred Leslie Howard, then came the TV version, in '52, with Anthony Andrews.

Q.WasHayley Mills ever in a UICK movie called Kleiner Moon-Spinners! In the movie I remember, she was a teen-ager and there were stolen jewels and a yacht or ship and she was a sleuth. Also, is it available on video? S.B., Mount Vernon, 111. A. Yes and yes. Yes, The Moon-Spinners was one of Ms.

Mills' best and, yes, it available on video. Q. Could you please tell me if David and Keith Carradine are related to the late John Carradine, and if so, how they are they related to him? A.S., Moncton, N.B., Canada A. They are his sons. Q.

This is really bugging me. The morning news shows claim they are live programs. How can they show clips of the guests one day before? B.G:, Little Rock, Ark. A. Simple.

They bring the guests in for promos, the day before the show airs. Q. We heard that John Forsythe was not the original choice as the voice of Charlie on Charlie's Angels. My guess for the original choice is Richard Basehart's voice. Please settle this bet, OK? D.S.M., Richmond, Va.

A. That's news to me. As far as I know, Forsythe was the original choice as Charlie's voice. Q. My friends and I were wondering why the TV shows Home Improvement and The Nanny were not included in the recent Emmy awards show.

We can't understand why these excellent, family-oriented shows were not nominated for an Emmy. C.P., North Little Rock, Ark. A. There are many good programs that do not win awards. It is simply that the judges felt the ones that did win were more worthy than the others.

A program that loses is not necessarily a loser it's just that there can only be so many winners. Q. I have a poster that was found in an old movie theater of a GH cast member, Cash, passes away By NANCY M. REICHARDT United Feature Syndicate NEW YORK we report the sudden death of Rosalind Cash, who played Mary Mae Ward on General Hospital. Cash died on Oct.

31 at Cedars- Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. No exact cause of death was given. Cash came to General Hospital in January 1994 to create the role of Mary Mae, the warm and loving grandmother who ran the Bradley Ward House for AIDS babies. Despite her own troubled life, Mary Mae was quick to lend a hand to others in need. We remember the tender and touching scenes involving Mary Mae while she helped Monica Quartermaine (played by Leslie Charleson) deal with breast cancer and a mastectomy.

Born in Atlantic City, N.J., Cash got her first break professionally with the Negro Ensemble Company in New York, of which she was a founding member. Cashs movie credits include Omega Man opposite Charlton Heston, The New Centurions, Uptown Saturday Night, Amazing Grace and The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai. She was nominated for an Emmy for her work in Go Tell It On The Mountain. Her other television work included guest spots on Barney Miller, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, China Beach and Hill Street Blues. She appeared in several television movies, and had an extensive theater and singing career.

In 1987, Cash won the Black American Cinema Society's Phoenix Award for achievement in motion pictures and was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1992. General Hospital executive producer Wendy Riche told the press, "We are all deeply saddened at the passing of Rosalind Cash. Her wisdom, energy, and love of life will remain with us always." Cash, who was 56, will be sorely missed by her General Hospital castmates and the many fans she garnered over nearly two years on the show. At press time there were no plans to recast, but no decision had been made public on just how Mary Mae would leave the show. At the time of her death, Cash shared a home in Los Angeles with artist Felipe Flores.

SHORT TAKES: LOOK FOR FINOLA Hughes and Tristan Rogers to make appearances on General Hospital on Nov. 13-17 in their former roles of Anna Devane Scorpio and Robert Scorpio, the parents of Robin Scorpio, played by Kimberly McCullough. Although fans of General Hospital know that Robert and Anna reportedly were killed in an explosion several years ago, it will be their "spirits" that appears before Robin while she awaits the results of her recent HIV test (it will be positive this time), and while helping the love of her young life, Stone Gates (played by Michael Sutton) battle the final stages of AIDS. CONGRATULATIONS TO Days of Our Lives, which celebrated its 30th anniversary on Nov. 8.

The show premiered on Nov. 8,1965, and was created by Ted and Betty Corday, who were awarded the 1995 Emmy for lifetime achievement posthumously. Frances Reid, who plays Alice Horton, and John Clarke, who plays Reid's on-screen son, Mickey, are the only two remaining original cast members. NBC has aired three episodes of Days in prime time, One Stormy Night (Jan. 10, 1992), Night Sins (Feb.

26, 1993), and Winter Heat (Feb. 4, 1994). Ken Corday, the son of Ted and Betty Corday, is the show's executive producer. girl named Patricia Roc. She is a beautiful girl.

Could you tell me who she was, what movies she starred in and if she's still alive? Any information would be appreciated. F.C., Moncton, N.B., Canada A. Patricia Roc was an English star and starred in many films, mostly British, including The Wicked Lady and The Man in the Eiffel Tower. As far as I know, she is still living. Q.

I keep hearing references to the original Little Women. Unless I've dreamed the whole thing up, wasn't there one made in black and white in the late '20s? Didn't Katharine Hepburn play Jo in it? R.C., Waterloo, Iowa A. Yes, but it was in '33, with Ms. Hepburn, Joan Bennett, Frances Dee and Jean Parker as the little women. Q.

Could you tell me if Alan Autry (Bubba on In the Heat of the Night) is related to Gene Autry, the singing cowboy of the movies? J.E., Dubuque, Iowa A. One more time no, he's not Q. My wife and I are at a standoff about the actor who comes flying out through the window and lands in front of Jack Palance in a Taco Bell commercial. Can you help identify him for me? E.C., Jacksonville, Ark. A.

My friends at Taco Bell aren't sure which of two men you mean. The actor who says the line, "Wow, that's some sandwich" is Mark Holton. The stuntman who does the stunt of crashing through the window is Kane Hodder. Q. My friend and I have a disagreement as to whether Ray Liotta played on the soap Days of Our Lives or Another World.

Could you please settle this dispute? D.C., Lowell, Mass. A. Liotta was part of the cast of Another World as Joey Perrini for three and a half years. NEWSPAPER ENTERPRISE ASSN.
