IN BROAD DAYLIGHT FOUR MEN EN TER THE BANK AT TESCOTT. They Bold up the Cashier and Secure a Swag John Swartz Resists and is Shot In the Leg. This morning at 9:15, just after open ing hours, Cashier Scidmore of the Bank of Tescott, was confronted by four armed men and commanded to open up the vaults.

There was noth ing for him to do but to comply, and the robbers secured a thousand dollars, mounted their horses and rode away. The robbers were first seen under a bridge about 150 yards from the bank. A small boy at a distance saw them masking. A few moments afterwards, the wife of a lumberman, whose yard is next to the bank, saw them walking up the street. A short time previous one of their men had gone into the bank to get a half dollar changed and then rejoined his confederates.

Walking up the street they stopped a moment on the steps of the bank to draw their revolvers from the leather cases, then entered, one of the four brandishing a knife, and levelled their revolvers upon the cashier. A farmer was standing near and he was held up" too. After securing their booty the four men backed out of the front door and started in a southeasterly direction. John Swartz, a young man of about 19 years, walked from behind a building and shot at the ruffians. They turned upon him and he was shot in the leg.
