Mr. Vickers was born June 2, 1915, in Arkadelphia, a son of J. L. and Ora Margaret Shepherd Vickers. He was married to Pauline Coe on Sept.

8, 1945, in Paris. He was a Baptist and a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife; one son, Michael Gene Vickers of Reno; three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Jan) Rogers of Powderly, Mrs. Frank (Vickie) Stetcer of Paris and Mrs.

Roger (Sandra) Jones of Abilene; two brothers, Donald Vickers of Detroit and Autis Vickers of Hugo, two sisters, Lossie Vickers of Blossom and Mrs. Donald (Bobbie Nell) McDonald of Arlington; and 10 grandchildren. Hightower funeral Services for Robert Lee Hightower of Powderly were conducted Monday morning in Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chnpel. The Rev. Glenn Vickers officiated.

Burial will be Tuesday morning in Fair view Cemetery in Memphis, Tex. Mr. Hightower died Saturday at Parkview Nursing Home. J.M.Abbott J. M.

(Chief) Abbott, 680- 19th SW, died at St. Joseph's Hospital Saturday. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bright- Holland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Higgs officiating.

Burial will be in Cottage Hill Cemetery at Celina. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Abbott was born June 6, 1913 in Bristow, a son of Milton and Sarah Long Abbott.

He was married to Bobbie Clutts on Feb. 20, 1954, in Lovington, N.M. He was a Baptist and a member of the Paris Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife; one son, J. M.

Abbott Jr. of Temple; two brothers, Alvin Abbott of Durant, and Vernon Abbott of Midland; two sisters, Mrs. Clyde Turner of Vallejo, and Mrs. Annie Shepherd of Denison; and two grandchildren. East funeral Services for Mrs.

Viola East, 1523 E. Houston were conducted Sunday in the Leesville Baptist Church with burial in Leesville Cemetery by Fry Gibbs Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Littlejohn and the Rev. Joe Clough officiated.

Bearers were James William East, Jackie Nailing, Clifton Nailing, Kent Covington, Jim Covington and Oliver Covington, Lee Covington and Joe Johnson. Mrs. East died at McCuistion Medical Center Friday. Bertha Whitt Bertha Whitt died Monday morning in Garland. Services are pending with Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

Atwood funeral Services for Albert Atwood of Dallas were conducted at Lamar-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Dallas Monday morning. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday with Bright-Holland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Atwood died Saturday in Dallas.

Mrs. Tilda Petty HUGO, Okla. Mrs. Tilda Petty of Golden Age Nursing Home, died Monday morning in Choctaw Memorial Hospital. Services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m.

in the Soper Church of Christ with Jim Maple officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery by Lampton-Mills Funeral Home. Mrs. Petty, 85, was born Nov.

27, 1895, in Alabama She was a longtime Soper resident and was a Church of Christ member. Surviving are a son, Neely Petty of Hugo; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bessie Britt HUGO, Okla. Mrs.

Bessie P. Britt, 803 E. Bluff, Hugo, died Sunday at her home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Lampton-Mills Funeral Home Chapel with Don Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Britt, 77, was bom Sept. 20, 1904, in Paris, Tex. She had lived in Hugo for the past 60 years.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are a son, Jack Britt of Hugo; one daughter, Mrs. Cleo Morris of Bonham, four sisters, Mrs. Lillie Dobbs of Paris, Mrs. Helen Horn of Nevada, Mrs.

Annie Morgan of Pasadena, Tex. and Mrs. Eva Whitson of Eugene, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Heart Association. Mrs.

Leona Hallum Mrs. Leona Hallum, Rt. 1, Arthur City, died Monday morning at McCuistion Medical Center. Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Gene Roden's Sons, Directors of Funerals.

Burial will be in Restland Cemetery at Roxton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hallum was born June 12, 1897, in Caviness, a daughter of Frank Tuttle and Willie Mock Tuttle.

Her husband, Hardy Hallum, died in 1940. Surviving are one daughter, Martha Day of Arthur City; one stepdaughter, Frances Blankenship of Fort Worth; two stepsons, Mutt Hallum of Fort Worth and Pete Hallum of Fort Worth; a foster son, Joe Powell of Paris, and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Elbert Hallum in 1971 and Bobby Hallum in 1968. AUTHORITIES investigated an accident in the 1700 block of Church ifi which, according to police records, Willie Luther Mobley, 1240-22nd NE, was westbound on Evergreen Street and attempted to turn south on Church Street when his brakes failed.

MECHANICAL FAILURE Willie Luther Mobley, 1240-22nd NE, told Paris Police officers that both his power brakes and power steering failed Sunday as he attempted to turn south on Church Street from Evergreen Street. Mobley's late Model Mercury Zephyr crashed through some $10,000 to $15,000 worth of monuments at Johnson Monument the monument company's display area, according to Marcus Roden, owner of Johnson Monument. Alford Center for Lifelong Learning on the PJC campus. Along with the talk by the treasury official, R. Kenneth Jennings, management assistance office for the SBA Dallas district office, and Charles Whitley, Paris chief of police, will discuss employee theft.

The seminar is designed to help merchants become more aware the problems of retail theft and how to eliminate them. The seminar is scheduled to coincide with the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
