I understand that they are beneficial insects but would prefer they stay out of my house.

How can I get rid of them and keep them from coming back? A. Specifically, they are multicolored Asian lady beetles. These beneficial insects often become unwelcome invaders in homes as they look for sheltered locations to over outside houses, sheds and other buildings, looking for cracks and crevices to gain entry. They do not bite, sting, carry diseases or damage wood, fiber or foodstuffs. Although Asian lady beetles can be a nuisance in large numbers, their presence does not warrant the use of pesticides.

Remember that they are important predators of aphids, scale and other soft-bodied insects. As such, they are responsible for reducing pesticide use in our landscapes. The benefit they pro Mechanical exclusion is the best way to keep Asian lady beetles from entering homes and other buildings. Cracks around windows, doors, siding, pipes and utility lines, chimneys and other openings should be sealed with silicone or silicone-latex caulk. Replace or repair damaged screens on windows and storm doors.

Attic fans, fireplace chimneys and exhaust vents should be covered with No. 20 (or finer) screen mesh. If they have already moved in for the winter, sweep them up with a cleaner.
