Previous to bar entering Ward seminary Miss Buhler was a puml of Miss Callender of Victoria Her playing last night showed the finish aa4 touch of an artists. Mr. HUken added greatly to the pleasure of the evening by his sympathetic, mellow voloe. He was artlstcally accompanied by Mra Hllkene.

This Is the first of a series of musical evenings which has been Inaugurated by Miss Daniel. Each Thursday evening her studio will be thrown open to hoi friends and a good program may be expected at each of these affairs. The large cool porch, all vlned-clad, under the soft glow of the JarneseJ(nterna. was an Ideal place to sit and listen to the excellent music, and many forsook the bright lights of the studio and hall to favor this delightful part of th Dsnlel home. The room were tastefully decorated wtth ferns and pot plants.

Miss Daniel was assisted In receiving the guests bv her sisters. Mrs. Dobson and Mrs. Hllkene. and these charming hostesses left nothing undone to glv their guests a most enjoyable evening.

Van Arsdel prior to their departure on Monday tor their new home. A most delightful season was spent. Mr. William A. Klrkpatrlck of Beaumont was the city Wednesday evening to organise a choral club.

The meeting was held in ths Civlo league's rooms and committees appointed to formulate plans for the season's work. The first regular lesson will be given next week. The family ot Mr. Don Petty, after summering at Bo leys. have returned to the city.

The sad and untimely death of Mrs. Mollis Blsland Brown, wife of Mr. B. F. Brown, manager ot ths Sabine Supply company, and one of the trustees ot the city publle schools, cam aa a terrible and unexpected shock to the wide circle of friends In Orange and elsewhere.

Mrs. Brown was years of age and was loved end esteemed by every on with whom she camo In contact. The funeral services were held at the home of the de-ceasec and were conducted by Rev. T. J.

The Winnie Davis auxiliary was entertained by little Miss Gladys Davidson at te home of her parents Saturday afternoon. Miss Rosa Dawdy entertained the MethodUt Ladles' Aid society Friday aftnon. The affair was a very elaborate one, It being the first meeting since the adjournment during the heated season.

The guests were refreshed during tho progress of the gamo with punch. Tho beard of managers of the Whartou library at a meeting on Monday decided tn give a book reception at the city hall on Thanksgiving Day. The affair will be quite elaborate, one ln which all tho cltlsens ot the town will participate. Amusements and a nice lunch will be prtvlded and In exchange all attending will be expected to donate a good book. Mrs.

At th close of th gams a dainty and most appetizing repast awaited the guests In ths dining room.
