Jimmy Maxwell, master of the Guadalupe Lodge, said all' interested Master Masons are invited to see The Sons of Hiram, a special Master's degree team, and participate in the special called meeting that begins at 10 a.m. The candidate is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Potter Jr. of Seguin.

House open The historic Claiborne-Kyle Log House (located approximately two miles southwest of Kyle on County Road 136 near the Kyle Cemetery) will be open for tours from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3. The Claiborne Kyle Log House is on the National Register of Historic Places as well as bearing a Texas State Historical Marker. The public is invited to step back in time for a historic open house.

Mini -Camp The Saegert Spirit Squad Mini-Camp will be held Monday-Wednesday, Aug. 4- 6, from p.m. in the Saegert Auditorium. All students interested in becoming members of the squad are encouraged to attend. All seventh grade students interested in becoming cheerleaders in the eighth grade (1998-99) must be members of the squad in 1997-98.

Open house St. James School will hold an open house and registration Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. in the church hall.

New students Navarro ISD encourages all parents to register students new to the district Aug. 4. Registration will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Pre-kindergarten through grade 5 students will register at the elementary office; grades 6-8 will register in the middle school office; and grades 9-12 will register in the high school office. If a child has been previously enrolled in school, the parent will need to bring a withdrawal form from the previous school and proof of residency.

If a child is entering school for the first time, or does not have a withdrawal form from the previous school, parents will need to bring a birth certificate, immunization record, Social Security card, and proof of residency. CRIME FOCUS Goods taken from storage A burglary involving more than $6,000 worth of property stolen from a storage unit has' been chosen as. this week's Crime Focus case selected by the Seguin Police Department. The burglary, which was reported on July 24, occurred sometime between July 21 and July 24 at one of the units at King Mini-Storage, 419 N.

Items taken from the unit included a beige and brown loveseat, a chrome and glass kitchen table, four swivel chairs, a Sears Kenmore electric washer and dryer, a General Electric fourhead videocassette recorder, an eight-piece set of stoneware dishes, a folding card table, a light fixture and other items of furniture. Anyone with information about the burglary or the stolen items is encouraged to call the Secret Witness Hotline at 372-1000 or the Seguin Police Department at 379- 2123. Information also can be provided by writing to the Secret Witness Committee of Guadalupe County, P.O. Box 542, Seguin, Texas 78156- 0542.

OBITUARY Ivon E. Ackermann Ivon E. Ackermann, of Seguin, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Dula; children, Edwin J. Ackermann of Fort Worth, Kathleen A.

Waters and husband Michael of San Antonio, and Harvey J. Ackermann and wife Jeanne of Colleyville; brother, Elmer Ackermann of San Antonio; grandchildren, Desiree Ackermann, Stephanie Quinn and Michael Sean Ackermann; greatgrandchildren, Devon and William Ackermann; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a founding member of the board of trustees of the Northeast Independent School District. He was also a member of the Hermann Sons Kirby Lodge where he was a recipient of the 50-year membership pin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug.
