It's not new for Bob to spend Christmas half a world away from his wife Dolores and their four youngsters. This year's trip to Greece, Crete, Turkey and Libya will be Bob's 22nd. Bob, along with actress Tuesday Weld, band leader Les Brown and singer Anita Bryant, left Saturday, after he received an okay from his doctor on his eye troubles. Most everyone knows what Bob does on his side of the mm- i wmmm teaches school in Los Angeles, draws the assignment of decorating the 10-foot tree, which is always a living spruce or green fir. On the grounds outside, the family places a near-lifesize Nativity tableau one week before Christmas.

Christmas day is a quiet one at the Hope home. Mass is followed by the traditional opening of gifts all except those to Bob and those exchanged by him and Dolores. These stay under the tree until Bob's return. "Bob likes personal gifts," says his wife. "He loves sweaters and golf things." As for Bob's gifts to Dolores, one of bis most recent was a silver poodle, whic'i raised the house eworld.

Preparations begin during the preceding four weeks of Advent, long before Bob leaves, and festivities continue through the Feast of Epiphany on Jan.

6. As for Dec. 25, she says, "Bob isn't a Catholic, but he always celebrates Christmas by attending mass. We're at mass, too, en, all different breeds. After the exchange of gifts, brunch follows for the immediate family, which includes Mrs.

Hope's mother, Mrs. John De Fina, who lives with them. At the end of the day they usually go to dinner at the home of Dolores' sister, Mrs. John Ma-latesta, or one of Bob's brothers. The big family dinner at the Hope home awaits Bob's return.
