Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hoffman and family made a visit Saturday to St. Louis. Mr.

and Mrs. Frank Manhart spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pohl Sr. of Marthasville.

Mrs. T. J. Schweissguth visited Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Katie Dunkmann.

Mr. and Mrs. John Ballmann had a special dinner Sunday in honor of their youngest son Frederick having his 18th birthday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs.

Gerald Trentmann and baby of Washington, Anthony or "Dickie" Ballmann and Darlene Dieckmann of Augusta. Death Of Former Resident One of our former residents and business man, Herman Finke passed away Sunday at the St. Francis hospital after a brief illness. He was in his 79th year and leaves to mourn his wife, Amelia, nee Schade, and one son Harold, and one daugh-12 ter-in-law. He was laid to rest on Wednesday at the St.

Vincent church cemetery. Miss Becky Snyder spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Fran. Manhart.

County School Board Association Meeting Held February 7 The following attended a County School Board Association meeting at the Marthasville School on February 7, 1957 beginning at 7:00 p.m.: From the state department of Education; Miss Viola Brandt, State Supervisor. D. Rekate, Mr. and Mrs. Ward Lefferdink, and Alfred Grannemann. A talk was made by a member of the State Library Service offering the use of a Bookmobile for the areas of Warren and Franklin counties.

Randolph Schaper, Magistrate Judge of Franklin county made a very good talk to the group on Emma E. Paul Emma E. Paul was born April 2, 1887 at Cappeln, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Henry T. and Lena Gerdemann, nee Kunze.

She was baptized and confirmed at the Ev. and Ref. church at Femme Osage, Mo. She received her education in the public school at Cappeln, Mo. On May 3, 1908 she was ed in marriage to John Paul by the Rev.

Johann Stroetker of Cappeln, thereafter residing at Femme Osage. This union was blessed with five children. She was a member of the Femme Osage Ev. and Ref. church, and also 3 member of the Women's Guild.

On January 28, 1957 she suffered a stroke and that same evening entered the St. Francis hospital at Washington, where she passed away, Sunday, February 3, at 2:00 p.m. She attained the age of 69 years, 10 months and 1 day. Preceding her in death were her parents, one daughter, Vera, in infancy; and two brothers, Henry and Charles. She leaves to mourn, her bereaved husband, John Paul, two sons and two daughters: Dr.

Raymond Paul, Bonne Terre: Mabel, Mrs. Fred Kncernschild, Augusta; Harvey Paul, Augusta; and Corinne, Mrs. Charles Bade of Warrenton. Two daughters-in-law; two sons-inlaw; 13 grandchildren; four sisters: Alma Gerdemann at Katie Jane Home at Warrenton, Mrs. Bertha Borgett, Wright City, Mrs.

Laura Nienhuser and Mrs. Olinda Guhlemann, both of Femme Osage: 4 brothers-inlaw; 2 sisters-in-law; nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Henry Mueller Margaret Marie Mueller (Mrs. Henry Mueller), daughter cf John Witte and Anna Marie Marie (nee Wohler) Witte, departed her life on Thursday, February 7, 1957, at the souri Baptist hospital, St.

Louis, Mo. She was born on August 25, 1888, in the Oak Grove vicinity, near Jonesburg. She attained the age of 68 years, 5 months, and days. She received the sacrament of Holy Baptism on August 26. 1890, Rev.

Karl Koch, pastor. She was united in Holy Wedlock with Henry Mueller on March 14, 1911. This union was Henry F. Hagedorn Of Concord Hill Dies Suddenly Henry F. Hagedorn of Concord Hill died suddenly at his home Tuesday of a heart attack.

He was in his 66th year. Mr. Hagedorn was born at Gildehaus July 22, 1891. He served in the U. S.

army in World War I from September, 1917 to May, 1919. He is survived by his bereaved wife, Anna nee Sander; one brother Joe Hagedorn of Union; four half-brothers: Fred Bar(ringhaus of Boonville, Ben Barringhaus of Washington, John Barringhaus of St. Louis, Adelph Barringhaus of Glasrow; two half-sisters: Amelia, Mrs. Henry Westholder of Krahow, Theresa, Mrs. Charles of St.

Louis; nieces and nephews, The body lies in state: at the Lichtenberg Funeral Home until time of funeral. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, at 9 a. m. at the St. Ignatius Church, Concord Hill, with burial in the church cemetery.

Charles, William Witte, Troy, 9 brothers-inlaw; 8 sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 9, 1957, at Immanuel E. and R. church, Treloar (Holstein), by the pastor, Rev. W.

W. Kramme; with interment in the church cemetery. F. W. Nieburg and Co.

August Hermann- Saak August Hermann Saak, son of William Saak and Reka, nee Huelhorst, Saak, was born at Treloar, Mo. on February 9, 1886, and departed his life at the home place on Sunday, February 3, 1957. He reached the age cf 70 years 11 months and 24 days. On the 7th of March 1886, he received the sacrament of Holy Baptism, Rev.

C. Moritz, pastor. These baptismal vows were renewed on his confirmation day, March 4, 1900, in St. John's E. and R.

church, Treloar (Pinckney), Rev. Rixman, pastor. His parents and one brother and one sister preceded him in death. He lived on the home place near Treloar throughout his entire life, with his two sisters and two brothers. He is survived by 2 sisters: Carrie and Minnie, and 2 brothWilliam and Paul, Treloar, and 1 sister: Mrs.

served as funeral directors. Mrs. Chas. Hoefelman Heads County 1957 Easter Seal Appeal Heading the 1957 Easter Seal appeal in Warren County will be Mrs. Charles Hoefelman.

The campaign will open on March 15th with the nationwide mailing of traditional Easter Seals. This year, the Easter Seal has taken on a. New Look, combining two sizes of seals and a narrow, page-wide sticker strip for car bumpers. The smiling lad who features this strip should not only cheer the man in the car behind you, but also make him more aware of the "rules 01 the road." Assisting Mrs. Hoefelman in the time -consuming task of preparing the Easter Seal letters for will be her Easter Seal committee.

On the basis of the number actually needing help the goal for Warren county is $840.00 It will require the thoughtful consideration of eve in the county to accomplish this. Upper Room Of Marthasville School Visits Jefferson City The Upper Room of the Marthasville School made a trip to Jefferson City February 11 to visit the State Department of Education and the State Capitol. Since time was short the students made an inspection tour of the capitol building. The Legislature was not in session at the time of the visit and the local Representative was not in the building SO after visiting various parts of the building the group visited the State Department of education offices in the Jefferson Building where they were shown around by Miss Viola Brandt, our state supervisor. H.

Kenneth Kirchner, Assistant Commissioner of Education welcomed the group and invited them to look over the offices and ask questions. Later, Hubert Wheeler, Commissioner of Education, also greeted the group and asked them to feel at home. The group was shown over both floors of the offices and several operations were explained to them. The group was accompanied by Supt William L. Adkins and Elmer W.

Ridder. Balanced Farming Committee Named At a recent meeting of the Warren County Agricultural Extension Council it was decided to have a committee to work with the Council and the Agriculture Extension agents on the Balanced Farming Program again this year. This committee consists of Extension Council members and Balanced Farming cooperators. Members of last year's committee were asked to serve again this year and include Wesley Schulze, chairman, Lester Rottman, Steve Lorber, Mrs. Walter Stemme and Mrs.

Emmett Reinhardt. The major duty of this committee will be to help plan and guide the overall Balanced Farming Program for Warren County. Anyone interested in taking part in the program and getting help on planning his farming operation is invited to talk with any member of the committee or with any of the extension agents. Af the present time the following families who were a- mong last year's cooperators have already paid their fees for 1957: Mr. and Mrs.

Lester Rottmann, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Lorber, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hackman, Mr.

and Mrs. Walter Stemme, Robert Probst, the partnership of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bratton and Mr. and Mrs.

Walter Voelkerding, and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Schulze. Two new families have been added: Mr. and Mrs.

Charles Meyer of Kittrick and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Amptmann, Treloar, Mo. American Legion Post and Auxiliary Unit Meeting Monday The Daniel Boone Post No. 180 of the American Legion and the Auxiliary Unit met for their regular monthly meeting on February 11, 1957 in the basement of the E.

R. Church. Earl Brewe, Commander, was in charge of the meeting. A report on Civil Defense was given by the Commander Brewe. A motion was made to give the commander the "go ahead" on the Civil Rights project.

The entertainment committee report that there will be four dances before the Fourth of July. The following dates were set for the dances: April 27, May 11, May 25, and June 15. No other business the meeting adjourned. The Auxiliary at their business meeting, after disposing of routine business, voted to again sponsor a girl for Girl's State which will be held in Columbia this year the latte: part of June. The Unit also ordered poppies for Poppy Day, to be held in May.

Refreshments of cherry pie and coffee were served by the ladies of the Ardell Logan To Enter Army Ardeli Logan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Logan of Marthasville, was in St. Louis last week Friday and enlisted in the U. S.

Army at the Joint Examanation and Induction Center. He expects to leave for active duty about April 2, 1957. Ardell is the sixth son of Mr. and Mrs. Logan that has served in the U.

S. army. Sells Kemper Property Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schneider, United Farm Agency representatives, report the sale of the six room house and three acres of land owned by Mr.

and Mrs. Edwin Kemper of Washington, Missouri to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Pierce of St Charles, Mo. The property is located at Etlah, Missouri.

Mr. and Mrs. Pierce are factory employees and plan to commute to their places of employment. They plan to move to the home within 30 days. Mr.

and Mrs. Schneider handled the transaction. Missouri Edison Co. To Participate In Electrical Week National Electrical Week, February 10 through 16, will be observed by a joint concentration of attention to the advantages of electrical living and a glimpse into the part electricity will play in the community's life in the near future. Begun three years ago by the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, the theme of National Electrical Week has been embraced by electrical manufacturers, power suppliers, electrical leagues, contractors, distributors, dealers, wir men, inspectors all groups concerned with promoting the use of electricity in homes and industry.

Observation of the week timed to coincide with Thomas Edison's birthday, is nation-1 wide. In addition to local community programs, national observation is being planned as well. In addition to national associations of electrical dealers, contractors and producers, more than 30 manufacturers have pledged their support of National Electrical Week through radio and TV programs, national advertising, company publications and at the plant-city level. Four NBC TV network shows will support the Electrical Week with special programs and announcements. Davis Benning, President of Missouri Edison Company, said in announcing his company's participation in Electrical Week, (continued on last page) COUNTY RED CROSS BLOOD PROGRAM Bloodmobile Visit In County Netted 112 Pints Of Blood Warren County citizens will be interested to know the Red Cross blood program will be continued in our county.

The last visit of the bloodmobile netted 112 pints of blood, and 14 donors were rejected due to various reasons. This turnout was exceptional considering the bad weather prevailing that day and the sickness among the people this winter. The following data was collected that day and is given as follows: Warrenton leads the donor list with 94 donors. This represents 26 donors from the Binkley Mfg. Company; 15 members of the National Guard; and 9 members from the Jaycees.

The remainder is not listed under an organization. Wright City, listed second, provided 17 donors. Approximately 7 of this number came from the Wright City Mfg. Co. and the balance from Wright City and outlying areas.

This will show the people of Warren county how the blood program is being supported throughout the county.

Let's see if we can't add more towns to the list next visit! It it is impossible for you to donate blood, you can do your part by contributing to the Warren County Red Cross Chapter, who finances the bloodmobile visits and makes the blood program possible for the county. Women's Guild Meeting Wednesday The St. Paul's Women's Guild held their regular meeting Wednesday, February 6 at 2 p. m. Mrs.

Flora Schneider, Stewardship chairman, was in charge of the devotional part of the meeting, and spoke on the topic "What Are Our Needs." She brought out both spiritual and personal needs. Mrs. Esther Engelage read the scripture. The business meeting was led by the president, Mrs. Verna Ahmann.

The Guild welcomed a new member, Mrs. Stella Bierbaum. After the meeting refreshments were served by Mrs. Gladys Knauer, Mrs. Blanche Brehe, Mrs.

Vera Lichtenberg and Mrs. Ethel Hulsey. Young Farmers To Meet February 20 The regular monthly meeting of the Warren County Young Farmers Club will be held at the College Methodist church basement in Warrenton, February 20, at 8 p. m. The public is invited to attend this meeting to hear E.

S. Matteson, Extension Livestock specialist from the University of Missouri. Mr. Matteson will speak on pork production and discuss problems of producers present. W.

T. Zimmerman will also be present to show slides of Warrenton taken a number of years ago. Visitors are asked to contact Mrs. Julius Schulze, sec. Warrenton, Mo, by card or telephone in order that necessary arrangements can be made by the refreshment committee for the increased attendance.

The meeting is an all family meeting. Bring the ladies and children..
