I SWM City Lions Halloween Party Gerald Swalve, president of Lions Club, reports eight new members for the club following this month's membership drive. They are: Amory Charlson, Joe Mackamul, Frank S m o u s e, Wayne Christensen, G. W. Johnson, Kenneth Patterson, Gordon Christensen, and Ken Nachtigal. The club is sponsoring the annual community Halloween party, as they have for the past ten years. There will be prizes for costumes, a parade, bonfire, games, eats, and the band will participate. The boy Scout troop, which is sponsored by Lions, will be on hand to assist in serving hot dogs and pop. The event is scheduled for Thursday evening October 31. Committes for the party are: Bonfire, Glen Clark and Mancil Hurlburt; Games, Edward Stewart, Harvey Hubbard, Vernon Boes, Max O'Keefe ;Parade, Lowell Larson, E. A. Peterson, Joe Skarpness, W. E. Carlson; Food, Wayne Christensen, Ed Petersen, and Arnold Anderson. Lofts Creek 4 - H Has Installation Lotts Creek Lassies met at the American Legion Hall on Oct. 21. Dawn Dogotch was hostess. The meeting was conducted by Theresa Martini. Installation of officers was held. They were as follows: president, Theresa Martini; -vice president, Carol Jean Anliker; secretary, Mary Carol Gengler; treasurer, Barbara Elbert; historian, Mary Loebach; reporter, C o 1 e 11 a Streit; photographer, Alice Elbert; music chairman, Upper AIGONA, IOWA, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1957 VOL. 94 - NO. 44 Eileen O'Brien; recreation chairman, Dawn Dogotch. New members initiated were Jacquelyn Medin, Trudy Betts. Nancy Schmeling, Judy Cole, Ruth Ann Mogler, Carol Besch. Zita Duffy, Doris Anliker and Karen Metzger. Irvington Ideals The Irvington Ideals met Oct. 19 with Dolores and Mary Alice Klein. About half of the members were absent with flu. Guests were Mary Staudt, Mrs August Studer, five mothers and two new members. Judy Friederes, Judy Froehlich, Jo Ann Klemm, Mary J. Arndorfer and Karen Seller are the lunch committee for 4-H Recognition night to be hold Nov. 13th at the St. Benedict Hall. Betty Wickwire was appointed music chairman for this year. Installation of new officers was held A talk on Vitamin C was given by Jo Ann Klemm, a demonstration, on table setting was given by Mary Janice Arndorfer and a demonstration on making a vegetable centerpiece by Ellen Two Fire Calls Over Weekend Oil burners gave two owftefa and the Algona Fire Department a little trouble last week. The trucks first went to home of Mrs Rebecca Lowmafl and found an overheated burnfif* Fortunately, no damage was reported. Firemen were also call* ed to the home of Arnold Daft* ielson cast of Algona on anoth«* burner disturbance. Again, ttci damage was listed.
