COAST GUARD CREWMAN IS HOISTED FROM WRECKED TRAWLER Ice-breaker crew searched wreck of Iceland II, off Cape Breton, for bodies Storm claims 3rd fishing craft Nova Scotia dead may total 28 FOURCHU, N.S. (CP. UPI)-A wild storm that churned the Atlantic into a deathtrap last week has claimed its third fishing vessel-and apparently 28 lives- and hope faded today for a fourth craft and its seven-man crew. Twenty fishermen are known dead, eight others are presumed dead and seven others are missing.

The trawler Iceland II was found aground Saturday on the rocky shore near this eastern Cape Breton fishing village. Two bodies were seen and there other was eight little members hope for of the 91-foot steel vessel out of Souris, P.E.I. Divers are waiting for tides and seas to subside before, attempting to board the wreck. The Iceland II grounded some time Thursday night or early Friday in circumstances tragically similar to those leading to the grounding of the Halifax trawler Cape Bonnie early Tuesday with the loss of her 18-man crew. Both ships were trying to make port in blinding snow and mountainous seas.

Both went far off course and into treacherous waters. Both grounded at high speed and both crews had little chance of escape in the furious icy seas.
