PRIDDY TO BROWNS Meanwhile, the Washington Senators finally disposed of Gerry Priddy.

At first, Priddy went to the Browns in return for Johnny Bernardino. That deal subsequently was nullified by Commissioner A. B. Chandler when Bernardino revealed his retirement from baseball. However, Monday night secretary Eddie Lyon of the Washington club announced that the Browns had purchased Priddy outright for $25,000.

The $25,000 paid for Priddy could bo token as confirmation of general manager Bill Dewltt's statement that his team was reshuffling, not going out business. Fitzsim mons, former Giant and Brooklyn pitching ace and once manager of the Phillies, announced that he had resigned as general manager of the football Dodgers to sign as pitching coach for the Braves. Manager Bill Southworth of the Boston club said frankly that he was delighted with obtaining Fitzsimmons' services. "I've been trying to get him ever Bince I took over in 1846," Southworth said. RESIGNS JOB At the same time he announced resigning his Brooklyn football job, Fitzsimmons denied that he had received an offer from the baseball Giants. Crisler beat out Matty Bell of the Southwest Conference champion Southern Methodist University Mustangs in the balloting.
