and a farmer yester day afternoon sought the federal Liberal nomination for Portage Neepawa constituency in the March 31 election at a nomination convention in the parish hall of the local Anglican Church The Presbyterian Rev Harold Lloyd Henderson won 99 votes to 72 His United Church opponent Rev 11 Hamblcy got two votes Mr Henderson got only one vote in Ottawa in January when he contested the national leadership of the Liberal partyHe has the reputation of being most controversial mayor because he has been a focal point of political warfare in this Manitoba town since he became chief magistrate 10 years ago Mr Henderson's victory is regarded by many Manitoba party officials as a triumph for "grass roots liberalism' and the "biggest psychological lift" to the party in Manitoba since the present federal election cam paign began Though only 14 campaigning days are left until election day the Liberal nominee Is given a good chance of recovering a traditional Liberal seat from
