John Wadge's birthday twelve of her friends, sprang a surprise on her, when they came loaded with fancy cakes, ice cream and candy. Mary Findlater, was tendered that esteemed resident of Lead evening in Presbyterian thurch by' the people of the congregation, and the children of the Sunday school of which Dr. Findlater was superintendent for the past eight years. Her work has been conscientiously carried on, enthusiastically co-operated with and keenly appreciated, and as a token of appreciation the Sunday school Dr. Findlater with a suitable gift. There were speeches and a program in which members of the church expressed regret at Dr.

Findlater's departure from Lead, considering her leaving a true loss, both to the medi cal profession here and the Presby terian people with whom she has worked. The Hall boys will be witnesses in the case instituted on complaint of the game warden against Mose Woods, who it is alleged had a deer in bis cabin near Nahant about a month ago. The presence of the dead deer it is said was not satisfactorily accounted for, and is supposed to have been shot out of season. Robs Miller, engineer on the state railway commission, has returned to his home in Pierre to make plats and estimates on the survey taken during the past ten days here on the Blacktail curve and Northwestern) road into Lead. The work is the result of the proceedings of the commission in session here with the Lead Commercial club, and results from the same will be made known at the hearing here later in the month. The Bachelor club will give a dancing party in Elks Hall on Friday evening, April 13th.

The date holds little chance of scaring the daring dancers who frequent these; attractive parties and will undoubtedly be one of the most gala of the season. 25c. C. W. Werlick came up from Hill City to spend a few days in Lead with his family. He intends to return to Hill City soon to look after his mining property there.

Smoke issuing from the Belt Garage and Auto company plant gave rise to the report that a fire had broken out in the place. The engine of one of the cars had been allowed to remain running and because of the dense volume of smoke created, the ventilator had 'been left open at the time the men left for supper. The escape of the smoke led many to believe that the place was on fire. Arrangements are completed for the dance which the ladies of the H. A.
