with the Los Angeles Kings losing 5 4 to St Louis But the right winger did a lot more than that ox scored with 32 seconds left Tuesday night and the Kings hung on through five minutes of overtime to salvage a 5 5 Na tional Hockey League tie with the Blues The Kings fresh off their longest road trip of the season felt mentally and physically tired during the first period when St Louis took a 3 2 National Hockey League continued to violate the rights even after it filed suit in May over its unsuc cessful attempt to sell the St Louis Blues The company filed an amend ed suit Monday with US District Judge William Hungate ask ing for $80 million in damages and accusing the league of conti nuing to harass Ralston The amended suit like the original one filed May 24 con tends the league acted illegally when it rejected bid to sell the club to a group of Cana dian businessmen The group had planned to move the fran chise to Saskatoon Saskatchewan Since then Ralston tendered the team to 1979 his average climbed to 276 with 21 homers He hit 33 homers in 1980 13 in strike interrupted 1981 In his first MVP year he hit 281 with 36 homers and 109 RBI ATLANTA (AP) Dale Murphy insisted he was sur prised by his second straight National League Most Valuable Player award but his philosophy makes the honor seem logical this game if do ing something right you need to do it every the Atlanta center fielder said The Baseball Writers Association of America on Tuesday made Murphy the fourth NL player to win back Schmidt with 191 and Guer rero with 182 never thought of something like that stole 30 bases to become the sixth major leaguer to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases in the same year At 27 Murphy is the youngest of the National Leaguers to win consecutive MVP awards The others
