Love Phil Children Teacher accused of attempting tryst with giri, 12 THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SACRAMENTO State agents have arrested an Oakland third-grade teacher who traveled to Sacramento for what he allegedly intended to be a sexual encounter with a 12-year-old girl.

Thomas Stacey Reeves, 37, was arrested Monday afternoon at a Sacramento hotel. He arrived at the hotel allegedly expecting to meet the girl, but was instead met by agents who arrested him, said Michael Van Winkle, a state Department of Justice spokesman. Reeves, a Berkeley resident who taught at Lockwood Elementary School in Oakland, was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on three charges of attempted lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14. The arraignment was continued until Dec. 13, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.

Reeves was in custody at the Sacramento County Jail on $500,000 bail Wednesday. The investigation was headed by the Sacramento office of the state Bureau of Investigation's Sexual Predator Apprehension Team and included Internet, phone and e-mail contact with Reeves. Although it is not known exactly how investigators first established contact with Reeves in September, Van Winkle said investigators typically contact people who post messages on the Internet or who engage in chat room discussions of illicit sexual conduct with children. In conversations Reeves expressed he was willing to travel to Sacramento for the sole purpose of molesting a 12-year-old female, so investigators set up the hotel tryst between Reeves and a fictional girl, which led to his arrest. On his way to the hotel Reeves went to a department store and picked up multiple items, including condoms, lubricants and a Barbie doll.

Police say not only was this a crime, but the "play dough" was so bad it never had a chance of passing for real money. Lt.

Joe Haebe said three juvenile males were cited and released to their parents on suspicion of producing false documents and conspiring to commit a crime. He said the teens has used ordinary computer printers to print up the front sides of $5 and $10 bills. Then they would print up the back sides of the money on separate sheets of paper. Then they would just cut out the two sides of the money and glue them together. Haebe said the teens had wads of several hundred dollars worth of the fake money they were showing to their friends, bragging about how much money they had.

When school officials caught wind of what was going on, police were called in to investigate. Haebe said the three teens were cited and police recovered several hundred dollars of counterfeited $5 and $10 bills. The U.S. Secret Service, which handles counterfeiting cases, was not called COURTS in to investigate the case, Haebe said, because they usually only get involved in large cases where people attempt to pass off large amounts of counterfeit money as real cash. Real notes have dozens of security measures built into them by the United States Treasury Department, not the least of which is that real money is not glued together.

Haebe said it does not appear the teens were trying to spend the fake money, but rather that it was just a "stupid" misjudgment on their part. They will face charges in Juvenile Court.
