They were enroute to their home after spending two months visiting in California. Barrow is the brother of Mrs. Welker. FIRST grandchild of Mr. and Mrs.

James Edlund, Lead, is Jenitte LeAnn Stevens who was born Dec. 28. She is the first chad of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Stevens, Granger, Utah.

Mrs. Stevens is the former Barbara Edlund. The paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs Kenneth Stevens, Yellow Creek, Lead. LISTED on the honor roll at the University of South Dakota at Vermillion is Donald D.

Toms. In order to be listed, a student must have a 4.0 grade point average. APPEARING on the television quiz show, The $10,000 Pyramid, was Ray Rantapaa, a former Lead resident now of California. Ray is the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Thomson Hardenberg, Thomson nuptials in Arizona 1 i ARRIVING HOME by plane Wednesday from Quito, Ecuador was LuAnn Keehn. She had spent the last six months there as an exchange student and will finish her senior year at Lead High School. LuAnn is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lew Keehn, Dead wood.

RECEIVING a $200 scholarship was Charles Mosley, son of Mrs, Fred Mosley, Lead. Mosley attends the University of South Dakota at Vermillion and the scholarship was awarded by the Mass Communication area faculty of the Department of Communications approved by the Publications board. SURPRISED at her home Thursday, Jan. 24, was Mrs. Gail Reddish, Lead.

It was her birthday and neighbors and friends showered her with cards and gifts. She was presented with a birthday cake by Mrs. Louis Benhart and Mrs. Ernest Huhtala, which was served as refreshment for the women who stopped by. Mrs.

Reddish recently returned form a two-month stay in Westminster, Colo, with her son, Howard and family. STUDENT teacher assignments were released by Northern State College, Aberdeen, this week. Gary Grove, Son of Mr. and Mrs' Dale Grove, is among the 177 student teachers currently training through its student teaching program for the second semester of the 1973-74 school year. They will have assignments for the first nine weeks of the second semester.

WORD WAS received in Lead of the death of Guy L. King, former Lead resident. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 21 in Mullen, Neb. He is survived by his widow, Doris, and a granddaughter living in Lincoln, Neb.

RETURNING to her home in Renton, last week was Mrs. Judy Kalmbach, RN who spent a week with her mother, Mrs. Arvid Nelson, Lead, who underwent surgery last Monday in a Rapid City hospital. Mrs. Nelson is reported to be recovering satisfactorily.

PROUD grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Gilbert, Deadwood, are announcing the birth of a third grandson. John Jeffry was born to Mr. and Mrs Jerry Lee Sadler, Fairbanks, Alaska, on Jan.

11. He joins two brothers, Jan and Christian Shama. Mrs. Sadler is the former Susan Gilbert. AMONG THE STUDENTS receiving recognition on the Dean's List at Mount Marty College, Yankton was Susan Aberle, Lead.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wendelin Aberle, Lead. NAMED TO THE President's Honor Roll for the 1973 fall semester at the University of Wyoming was Barbara S. Case, Deadwood, Mr.

and Mrs. Tuhbs, Maynard speak vows at St Ambrose presently an artist and silversmith. Thomson graduated from Deadwood High School in 1969 and attended the University of South Dakota, Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. He is presently stationed at Williams Air Force Base. A wedding trip was taken to Benton Harbor, Michigan and Deadwood.

The couple plan to make Anchorage, Alaska their home in March. Reproducing Art BHAA program "Reproducing Art" was the topic of Ray Beauvais, speaker for the Black Hills Art Association meet, held in the Episcopal Church Guild Hall, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6 in Belle Fourche. He explained and demonstrated work in the following fields, wood block, prints, engravings, screen process printing, single color (hot metal) printing, off-set printing.

Also included was the use of colored ink washes as second and third color overprints and four-color process work. Beauvais also went into the costs and what to expect in the sale of the various types of work, where to get the work done in diverse fields as well as the economics of the whole gamut of art work; limited editions and the method of marketing the finished reproductions. The next BHAA meeting will be held Feb. 3, 2 p.m., at the Hunter Gallery, including a tour of the shops where the Fine Arts Magazine, "Sunday Clothes" is published. Following the tour they will go to the Twin City Nursing Home where pictures of the residents will be on display.

A reception was held at the home of Sgt. John Caldwell following the ceremony. The new Mrs. Thomson was a 1970 graduate of Coloma High School and attended Western Michigan University where she majored in art. She is.

Ruth Lodge meets Ruth Lodge 3, Degree of Honor, met Monday evening, Jan. 21 in the IOOF Hall in Lead. During the business meeting conducted by Mrs. Clarence Henderson an announcement was made and reports given. The national office in St.

Paul, is sponsoring a literary contest for the junior lodge members. The theme is "Happy Birthday America My Wish for You." There will be two $25 government bonds given as prizes. The report of the Sunshine Committee showed a birthday card and handkerchief sent to Katherine Trunko and Sara Danguvich and a Christmas card and gift to Mrs. Thelma O'Dell. There was a total of four hours of civic work reported by the members.

Lunch was furnished by the lodge and Mrs. Winnie Stephenson won the bridge prize, Mrs. Edith whist and Mrs. William Glover, rummy. Melvin Maynard supervision of the St.

Ambrose Altar Society. Assisting were Deborah Derosier, Susan Daniels, Marlene Meeker, Mrs. Linda Nevin, Mrs. Eulita Percy, Mrs. Kathy Shama, Linda Maynard, Cheryl Tubbs and Marilyn Borgen.

The young couple are lifetime residents of the area. The bride graduated from the Lead High School in 1972 and is presently serving as a teachers aide in the Deadwood Elementary School system. The groom graduated from Deadwood High School in 1970 and is employed by Garhart and Pool at Whitewood. They are living at 404 Williams St. in Deadwood.

Pre-nuptial courtesies were given by Mrs. Jill Deborah Derosier and Susan Daniels, also by Mrs. Richard Gordon, Mrs. Ross Sorenson and Mrs. Harry Daniels.

Out-of-town guests traveled from Rapid City, Spearfish and Vermillion. A nuptial mass was celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Deadwood for Deborah Tubbs and Melvin E. Maynard on Dec. 28.

The double-ring ceremony was held at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. James Becht officiating. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs.

Lynn Tubbs, Sturgis and Mr. and Mrs James Maynard, Deadwood. The church was decorated in the Christmas decor and special music was provided by Keith Latimer who sang the "Lord's Prayer" and "May Each The organist was Mary Slack who played the traditional wedding music. The bride was given in marriage by her father and was attended by Mrs. Jill Guest, Lead, matron of honor and Cheryl Tubbs, Sturgis, bridemsaid.

Serving as best man to the groom was Bob Shama, Deadwood. The groomsman was Dan McGlade, Deadwood and ushering the 150 guests to their places were Frank Kincaid, brother of the bride and Marlin and Marvin Maynard, brothers of the groom.
