Mr. Ross.cashier of the Northwestern, received a lctter yesterday mailed at Aberdeen, Scotland, Aug. 10, (tamped as it passed through New York, Aug. 21, and bearing the Portland, Oregon, stamp of Aug. 28, it having miscarried to that point, from whence it was forwarded, via Miles, to deatination, baring traveled ten thousand miles in twenty-three days.

The longest irrigation ditch in tbe far west is now being excavated in the northern part of Wyoming, and will be, whtn completed, more that 101 miles long. The ditch is being put in by the Union Cattle company, and it will extend trom stockade Beaver, on eaver creek, Crook counly, in a south easterly direction into and through a portion of the country lying adjacent to the Cheyenne river.
