tojiighland District Hospital By The Associated Press Columbus City Council is expected to approve wage Increases tonight for nonuniformed city employes while negotiations continue this week in Cincinnati for 3800 workers Columbus council members are expected to approve the agreement bargainers reached last month with leaders of the American ederation of State County and Municipal Employes (ASCME) On Tuesday in Cincinnati negotiators for ASCME and the city likely will discuss union demands that the 1977 contract money be spread equitably from clerks to ad ministrators "We think that whatever money is available should be divided equally on a cents per hour basis" said Al Van Hagen director of ASCME District Council 51 "No ratio no giving the $30000 a year person three times as much as the one making $10000" fw "Some of the problems that have arisen in the past have been caused by just such a disparity in increases" he said While union negotiators in Cincinnati seek equality in pay scales nonuniformed workers in Columbus apparently will see their scales brought closer if the city council accepts a pay ordinance which calls for an average increase of 53 per cent over three during the fall quarter or just below the level generally considered necessary to whittle down unemployment The Commerce Department had estimated last month that the Gross National Product the total output of goods and services grew at an an nual rate of 4 per cent in the third quarter Thfe revised figures show that the original estimate was dragged down by a poorer than expected per formance in foreign trade The department originally had estimated a surplus for trade in goods and services at an annual rate of $59 billion but later reports reduced the estimate to a $34 billion surplus Commerce also reduced its original estimate of inflation during the July September period Inflation totaled 42 per cent at an annual rate during the quarter instead of the original estimate of 44 per cent In the previous quarter inflation was 52 per cent at an annual rate while the economic output growth rate was 45 per cent In the first three months of the year the economic output registered a 92 per cent advance Boy Enter School I 11 VI OL fell Xj'lJv A 1 ALLSTATE MOMC iMPROViMINf CO.
