Recognizing that farming today in this community is 'big business', the businessmen whose individual advertisements appear here are supporting a series of "Let's Get Acquainted" aerial farm photos in this county and a series of pictures of business places in this town. The "mystery farm photo", and the "business place photo" will help business folks in town and their neighbors in the country to become 'better acquainted. In both cases, we will be able to appreciate more the efforts being made by both town and country residents to make progress in their work while building a better community. Our Businessmen On the Farm -- ne Dugan Farm A 240 Acre Place Located Southwest of Lone Rock A Dad and Son partnership handles the farming operations on the fine farm pictured above. The two rent the farm, and this is the 18ih year of the Dugan'tenancy on the place. Located 2 miles south, a mile east, and Vi mile south of Lone Rock, in Hurt Township, the farm is all completely modernized, and as the aerial photo shows has a new barn, a new hog house, new machine shed and other modern, out-buildings. Jess Dugan and his son, Wayne, handle the farming, operation, which generally includes about 35-40 head of feeder cattle, and Mrs Dugan enters the picture with her chickens — this years, she says, she's 'loafing a bit' — she's only raising about 500. Mrs Dugan is the former Elsie Behrends, of Algona. The Dugans have three children — Waynij., married to the former Mary Jan^ Winch, .of George, Iowa', Ralph, the oldest, in Estherville in construction work, and a daughter, Mrs Jim Kelly, Fort Dodge. Jess Dugan is a great fishing enthusiast, in fact, he was with Ed Wolf in the catch of that big walleye up north. Son Wayne likes to wet a line, too. Jess used to be an avid hunt- ler, but he says the walking just doesn't suit him too much any more. Now, when taking lime off from farming, he says he prefers a good, comfy seat in a boat on a lake loaded with walleyes, northerns and bass. • Cleaning • Pressing • Alterations ' • Repairs Free Pick-up tc Delivery Throughout City & County Phone CY 4-4Z77 Algona == ( Robinson Produce I STORES AT ALGONA AND WESLEY WAYNE fEEDS g Complete Lines (or p Poultry - Livestock g Poultry Service S We Buy Poultry g and Eggs g Phone CY 4-4Z06 1 Algona = iiinDmmuiiiiiuiJjjjjjJiJiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiij Algona Rendering Co.
