Mrs Hclgason was born Aug. 8, 904 at Fenton to John and Eliza- >eth Dcmpsey. Her mother survives and lives at Armstrong. Thelma Dcmpsey attended the tenton school. State Teachers col- ege, Cedar Falls, and a beauty school at Estherville. In 1923 she was married to Chris Godfredson. He died in 1953. She operated a beauty shop at lingsted in 1953 and was married .0 Lloyd Helgason in 1955 in South Dakota. He died in 1959. Stork Pays Two Xmas Visits Fenlon — Mrs Helen Widdel received news last week of the birth of her first great-grandchild to Mr and Mrs Larry Steenblock in Boulder, Colo. Letha Lynn was born on Dec. 16 and weighed a little over six pounds. Her mother is the former Linda Widdel and her grandparents, Mr and Mrs Merwin Widdel, Ringsted, are former Fenton residents. Mr and Mrs Burnett Heine are the parents of a baby boy born on December 17 at the Emmets burg hospital. Toni Wayne weigh ed six pounds and three ounce! and has a sister Robin, four, and a brother Larry, 2. Grandpar ents are Mr and Mrs Gerhar Hantelman. RIME FENTON, IOWA frowc>s<*i<ss3rtSSr««S!r3!^^ New Home EC Teacher, Sentral Fenton — Mrs Sandri Hartman, Worthington, Minn., has signed a contract to teach homemaking and art at the Sentral high school beginning Jan. 14. Mrs Hartman is a December graduate of Mankato State college and is qualified for vocational homemaking. She replaces Mrs William Nugent of Algona whose resignation was accepted by the Sentral school board in a special meeting Monday. Sentral Girls Win As Boys Lose, Thompson Sentral and Thompson split a pair of State Line Conference basketball games Tuesday night. Sentral chalked up an easy 63-30 win in the girls game, while Thompson came back to win the boys encounter, 68-56. After a close first quarter, which found Sentral ahead 10-9, the girls game developed into a rout as the winners went into a 31-18 halftime lead. At the three-quarter mark Sentral was on top 46-20 Top scorers for Sentral were Sch meling with 20 points, Wehrspan with 18 and Ramus with 13. Hauan and Burke led Thompson with 12 points each. Thompson took an early lead in the boys game and held the upper hand, 36-26 at the half and 50-44 at the end of the third period. Sentral's last-half rally was cut short as the winners outscored them, 18-12, during the last eight minutes. Eimers, Bierstedt and Howe got 10 points each for Sen- ,ral, while McGrath pumped in 26 'or the winners.
