NOtTOWIST AIKANSAI TIMIS. NwWtvlllB, Arfcamn, 24, IMS Judge Acted Properly State Supreme Court Rules On Pine Bluff Magazine Ban LITTLE ROCK (AP) The Arkansas Supreme Court, somewhat gingerly, today ruled that a Pine Bluff judge acted properly in banning a of eight magazines under an obscenity statute. But the court said that it was entering a nebulous field of law and that no firm guidelines on obscenity exist. "We enter into a field (of law) marked and characterized by uncertainty," Chief Justice Carleton Harris wrote in the 5-2 opinion. "In fact, we know of no area of the law in which there is more confusion," he said.

Chancellor Joseph Morrison specifically barred sale of these magazines: Gent, Swank, Modern Man, Bachelor, Cavalcade, Gentleman, Ace and Sir. Attorneys for the magazines argued that Morrison acted uiv constitutionally in barring sale of future issues of the magazines, but the Supreme Court said the order did not affect future issues and thus could be sustained. Harris discussed at length legal theories as to whether national or local standards should be applied in obscenity cases. He came to the conclusion that the United States Supreme has not said definitely 362 graduates, the largest grad-j and that in the case um er 362 Graduates To Receive Diplomas Friday Evening Commencement exercises for uating class in the history of Fayetteville High School, will be held Friday at 8 p.m. at Har-j consideration, local standards would apply.
