School entertained the senior class, the faculty, custodians, board of education, and school secretaries with their annual juni- ior-senior banquet and prom. This year's theme, "Tahitian Twilight", transported all the guests to a beautiful tropical island where dinner was served by sarong clad maids and beachcombers of the sophomore class. Dirk Holmes, master of ceremonies introduced the banquet program: Beverly Fiderlick, junior class president, extended the welcome; Sharon Lenertz responded on behalf of the senior class; Ronald Aure read the senior class prophecy; a sextet of juniors sang, "The Pagan Love Song" and Superintendent A. C. Leuthauser gave a few timely remarks. The prom formally closed at 11:30 p.m. with everyone wishing aloha to a beautiful evening spent in "Tahitian Twilight". to Irene Wilson at Graettinger Sept. 18, 1937. They had farmed soulh of Ringsted since their marriage. Survivors are his wife, one son, Vern of Spencer, and one daughter, Lorraine at home. Two brothers, John of Chicago and Tom of Uingsted, two sisters, Mrs. Earl Long of Ringsted and Mrs. Ralph Schumacher of Whittemore also survive. St. Ann Tag Day Is Slated Here May 11 Ringsted Farmer Dies, Funeral Held Tuesday Funeral services for Leonard Torkelson, 48, longtime Ringsted area farmer, were held Tuesday at the Ringsted Presbyterian church. Mr. Torkelson died late Saturday afternoon at Holy Family hospital, Estherville, where he had been a patient for one day. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Gruber officiating and burial was at Memorial cemetery. Mr. Torkelson was born June 4, 1914 at Fenton and was married St. Ann hospital Auxiliary Tag Day will be held in Algona May 11. Headquarters will be the former United Variety building on State street. An annual event, it is always held during National Hospital Week, which this year is May 7-12. Mrs. Craig Smith is chairman and Kathleen McEnroe, co-chairman. The Auxiliary hopes to purchase another oxygen tent, as well as a mist vaporizer machine. Each year, some piece of equipment for the hospital is purchased with the money received Tag Day. In the past, some of the items purchased are air conditioners, acoustical ceilings in the nursery department, a hi-lo bed, oxygen tents, vented screens for the complete west side of the hospital, and just recently a croupette tent, to be used on small children with a respiratory condition. Spring Banquet Of Sororities Held Saturday The three Algona chapters of Beta Sigma Phi sorority held their annual Spring Banquet Saturday evening at Algona Country Club. Karen Navoichick was toastmistress of the banquet program and Virginia Scaberg, DcAnnc McGuire, Ruth Jorgenson and Joan Diamond, speakers. Three Girl of the Year awards were made to Mary Ila Gisch, Zeta Xi chapter; Norma Marshall, Alpha Psi chapter; and Norma Johnson, Xi Xi chapter. Maxinc Clcgg, Irene Kollasch and Wilma Pickett made the presentation speeches. Gloria Bronson, Patsy Hackney and Jean Sires were initiated into Zeta Xi chapter. Ritual of Jewels ceremonies were conducted for Sharon Cowan, Delores Grove and Karen Navoichick, Zeta Xi chap- Tuesday, Moy 8, 1962 Algona (la.) Parents Of Son Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kinscy, Hawthorne, Cal. are parents of their first child, a boy born May « at 2:51 a.m. The baby weighed 7 Ibs. 10 ozs. and is 20 '•• inches. Mrs. Kinscy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Skogstrom, and Mr. Kinscy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Duke Kinscy, Algona. Mrs. Kinsey was formerly employed at the Upper DCS Moines Pub. Co. RUG Mrs I. J. (Gladys) Torrey of Cherokee recently completed a 6x9 hooked rug of all wool and backed with canvas for easier cleaning.
