and Mrs. John Ehrbar were present. After examining Dicker, Coroner Simon said he would probably not examine ly more witnesses, but would not render a verdict until he had further investigated the case. "We have a few strings out," he said "and there may be more developments in a few days." In his testimony, Dicker said "I have known Mamie Ockuley since the latter part of June. I first met her in a street car, but was not introduced to her.

During the time that I was at home, I called on her about twice a week at her home, 38 Plymouth street Since the forepart of August I have been home only a week. At the time I was at home I did not know Mt tnie's condition. "She wrote and told me about it four or five days after I left home, which was Sept. 21. I told her to go to a fellow by name of Jackson, 106 Beyerle street.

I wrote to Jackson about the girl, and he replied: Send her to me with a letter of The reason I sent her to Jackson was that she could hare a frietd care for her while I was gone Jg "kson and I corresponded relative to her going to a place on Barber avenue, which I understood to be a private hospital, but I did not know she had gone there." "Isn't it a fact that Metnie Ookuley went to Jackson's for the purpose of getting out of the condition she was in?" asked the coroner. "Not to my knowledge." replied Dicker. "Did Jackson say anything in his letters about committing an operation on this girl?" "No, sir, I did tell Mamie Ookuley to see my family physician, Dr. Taggart.
