The cause of death is unknown, pending a doctor's report. Hayes, a native of Los Angeles, lived in San Bernardino 18 years. FRANCIS JOSEPH BUDNER Millwright Francis Joseph Budner, 75, of Hialto died Monday at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana. The cause of death is unknown, pending a doctor's report. Budner, a native of Mingo Junction, Ohio, lived in Rialto for 47 years.

He worked as a millwright at Kaiser Steel for 30 years. He was an Army veteran and served dur- Moore, both of Barstow; her sister, Dorothy Tankey of Barstow; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mead Mortuary, 36930 Irwin Road, Barstow. Services will be at 1 p.m.

Friday at Mead Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Park, 37067 Irwin Road, Barstow. EDGAR RENE MAT A Student Edgar Rene Mata, 17, of Men-tone died Friday in Mentone. The cause of death is unknown, pending a doctor's report. Mata, a native of Riverside, lived in Mentone three years.

He was a student at Orange-wood High School. Survivors include his mother, Rosa, of Mentone; his brother, Luis of Mentone; his sister, Ga-briela of Mentone; and his grandparents, Macaria and Crispin Lepe, both of Thousand Palms, Eva Sanchez of Yucaipa, and Guadalupe Torres of Texas. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Emmerson-Bar-tlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Redlands. Service will be at 10 a.m.

Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 115 W. Olive Redlands. Interment will follow at Montecito Memorial Park, Waterman Avenue and Barton Road, Colton. JOHN A. NOBLITT Title officer John Andrew "Jack" Noblitt, 60, of San Bernardino died Thursday of cardiac arrest at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Noblitt, a native of San Bernardino, lived in San Bernardino 58 years. He worked as a title officer in the title insurance industry for 38 years. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; his son, Eric of Parma, Idaho; two daughters, Corrine Kaiser and Vicki, both of Parma, Idaho; and three grandchildren. Services and interment are private. Hughes Loma Linda to the Norman Spiva Trust Fund, co El Dorado Savings Bank, Plymouth 95669.

VIRGINIA M. THOMPSON Retired school worker Virginia Malinda Thompson, 80, of Redlands died Tuesday of heart disease at home. Thompson, a native of Janes-ville, lived in Redlands 48 years. She was a manager of the food service division for the Red-lands Unified School District for 27 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Melinda Schraper of Banning and Joyce Gladney of Red-lands; her sister, Evelyn Mueller of Oceanside; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sa-' cred Heart Catholic Church, 115 W. Olive Redlands. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro Road, Redlands.

Tondro, 46, of San Bernardino died Thursday of lymphoma at San Bernardino County Medical Center. Tondro, a native of California, lived in San Bernardino 43 years. He worked as a self-employed carpenter. Survivors include his wife, Annis two daughters, Maudie and Amy, both of San Bernardino; two brothers, Chuck of Hespe-ria, and Dennis of San Bernardino; his mother, Gloria of San Bernardino; and one grandchild. Services are pending.

Victor Valley Mortuary is directing. THOMAS A. TROY Twin Peaks resident Thomas A. Troy, 27, of Twin Peaks died Sunday of complications due to AIDS at St. Bernar-dine Medical Center.

At its peak in the 1940s and 1950s, the San Bernardino site was Santa Fe's largest heavy locomotive repair center and one of the largest railroad depots in the United States with as many as 4,000 workers. In brief Lawsuit targets abortion protesters Federal prosecutors filed a suit to curb weekly protests in front of a Crestline abortion doctor's home, officials said Tuesday.

The complaint, filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, alleges that Jeffrey White; director of Operation Rescue of California, and two others harassed and threatened Dr. Michael Morris as he left for work one Friday in December. Morris works at Family Planning Associates Medical Group offices in Riverside and San Bernardino. The Dec.

9 protest' spurred a joint request by the U.S. Attorney's Office and U.S. Department of Justice to scale back where the protesters may congregate. Protesters pushed Morris and he received cuts and bruises, according to the suit. Tuesday's complaint is based on the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act of 1994.

White, of Lake Arrowhead, is part of a group that protests near Morris' Dart Canyon Road home at 6 a.m. every Friday, according to San Bernardino County sheriffs officials. Sheriffs Lt. Ray Rucker said White and Morris have been filing police reports against the other for almost a year. Except for the Dec.

9 incident, there have been no physical confrontations, but deputies and U.S. Marshals have been patrolling the protests, he said. White nor Morris could be reached for comment. Council honors rescue team The Redlands City Council on Tuesday honored firefighter Walt Harrison and his trained rescue dog, Misty, for their work at the Oklahoma City bombing site. Harrison and Misty, one of five trained rescue teams in the state, were sent to Oklahoma City after the federal building was bombed last month to look for survivors in the rubble.

Rialto Raceway gets Council vote Junior drag racing is speeding its way into popularity and Rialto has become an important part of the new sport. The city council unanimously decided Tuesday to dedicate a portion of Rialto Municipal Airport as the official Rialto Raceway, making it the first track in the country exclusively devoted to the young racers. Junior drag racing involves sleek, sophisticated dragsters with engines that can accelerate faster than street cars. Kids 8 to 17 years old compete by speeding down a straight strip usually one-eighth of a mile long. The cars, which can reach speeds of 70 mph, are half the size of a regular dragster.

IRIS MERLE FINLAY PETERS died Wednesday, April 26, 1995, in Ar-tesia, California, qf natural causes. Born in Llano, Texas, on March 17 1914, to Bethel and William Fin-lay, Merle lived most of her life in southern California, with brief periods in Arizona, Oregon, and again in Texas. Merle graduated from Excelsior High School in Artesia, California, in 1932, and married Orville Conley shortly after. A son, Charles Harold, was born to that union, which ended in divorce. Merle worked as a practical nurse as a young woman and married Arthur Peters in 1937 in They had a daughter, Evelyn.

The family moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, during World War II, then returned to San Bernardino, California, where Merle became a dedicated volunteer for many community activities, and Art continued his career in transportation and his leadership for the Boy Scouts. Over the years, Merle was a den mother for the Boy Scouts, as well as a Girl Scout leader, and, for many years, she was a certified first aid instructor for the Red Cross. She was always available for car-pooling for her children and others. She was a proficient seamtress and liked sewing for her family and home. In later years, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren on "field trips" to museums and other interesting places.

After Art's retirement in 1975, Merle and Art spent some time exploring the country before moving to Llano. They remodeled an old house there and did more traveling. They later moved to Belton, Texas, where Art. died in 1985. Merle subsequently moved back to the San Bernardino area, where she lived until she became ill and entered a nursing home in 1993.

Merle is survived by a son and his wife, C.H. and Mary Conley, of Whittier, California, and a daughter and her husband, Evelyn and Marty Marzinelli, of Boise, Idaho. She also leaves five grandchildren, Dana Beck, of Salem, Oregon, Susan Spencer of Boise, Jeffrey Spencer of Los Angeles, Anne Carroll and Jeanne Conley, of Chino Hills, California, as well as two great-grandsons, Randy and Jeffrey Carroll. Merle also leaves several cousins, Including Alberta Miller, of Austin, Texas, and Donald Thompson, of Trona, California. A private family memorial service will be held on Memorial Day.

He worked as a building painter 50 years with the State of California. He was a member of San Gorgonio Masonic Lodge 668 F.M.

JOHN M. LAWRENCE IV Student John M. Lawrence IV, 19, of Las Vegas, died Saturday from injuries sustained in a car accident at Northridge Hospital. Lawrence, a native of Denver, formerly lived in Needles for one year. He was a student.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; his parents, Jack of Las Vegas and Carol Iram of Rialto; four brothers, Cory, Paul, and Kevin, all of Las Vegas, and Adam of Rialto; three sisters, Amanda of Las Vegas, Ashly Iram and Tami Jo, both of Rialto; and his grandparents, Janetta and John both of Needles, and Bob Dun of Indiana. Main Barstow. LUTHRIA LOVE Cook Luthria "Lulu" Love, 61, of Barstow died Thursday of cardiac arrest at home. Love, a native of Pittsburg, Texas, lived in Barstow 44 years. She worked as a cook for St. Joseph Catholic School in Barstow for 11 years.

She also worked for San Bernardino County for 12 years. She was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Cahill, a native of Hammons-port, N.Y., lived in Rialto 41 years. Survivors include two sons, Jim Haaser and Tom, both of Col-ville. her daughter, Bonnie Hemphill of Rialto; six grand-children; and one greatgrandchild. Interment will follow. ROBERT KARL CORBETT Santa Fe employee Robert Karl Corbett, 74, of San Bernardino died Sunday at home. The cause of death is unknown, pending a doctor's report. Corbett, a native of Deerfield, lived in San Bernardino for 41 years. He worked for Santa Fe Railway for 38 years, and as a general foreman of the Bridge and Build ing Depart-ment for the Los Angeles Division for 24 years.

He was a member of the Elks, the Santa Fe Friendship Club and was direc tor of the American Bridge and Building Association. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife. Donna; his son, Hal of Hemet; his daughter, Kathy of San Bernardino; his brother, Bruce; his sister, Dorothy; and four grandchildren.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 785 N. Arrowhead San Bernardino. Neptune Society of Riverside is directing.

Gourley, 92, of Redlands died Saturday of cancer at Community Hospice of Riverside. Gourley, a native of Eliza-bethton, lived in Redlands 56 years. He was an agriculture inspector beekeeper for San County 25 years. He was a member of First i a 1 Church in Redlands. Survivors include his sister, Izetta Re-vis of Lincoln, Neb.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cortner Chapel, 221 Brookside Redlands. A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Hillside Memorial Park, 1540 Alessandro Road, Redlands. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

Spiva, a native of Santa Cruz, lived in San Bernardino County 30 years. He worked as a printer for 16 years, most recently for the Ledger Dispatch.

He was a member of American Legion Post 14 and 108 and Plymouth Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 11133. He was U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Vicki; two daughters, Anna M. and Tamara Suzanne, both of Elk Grove; two sons, Norman W.
