SCIENCE OF 'MASTER THOUGHT' RATHER DIFFICULT TO MASTER "Who Are We, What Are We?" Asks Dr. Otoman Zar-Adusht Ha'nish IN A SCARLET ROBE By ARCHIBALD LAMPMAN For some time we'd been worried a about things.

Life, you know or it seemed to be getting us. For instance, there was that guy chasing us radio license. Another bozo running after us on the insurance-pronto plank. So. when Rev.

Dr. Otoman ye Zar-Adusht Ha'nish came to town yesterday we trotted right over to see him. Dr. Ha'nish was billed as the world-renowned reformer, philosopher, physician, scientist, and elector of the Mazdaznan Association. Mazdaznan, so we learned, was ritzie for "master the solution to all problems.

All problems? Right up our alley. We wanted to ask him, as per pectus, about "the higher understanding of the purpose of being," which would enable us to go through life joyfully and successfully. He might even tell us (see pamphlet) about the "world's greatest movement influencing art, literature, education, pulpit. stage and thought." Apart from this had an open mind. We felt sure we'd get an earful.

Ha'nish was to be a headline attraction at a get-together of Mazdaznans. Somewhere, we felt sure, we were still being trailed by the radio license man and the insurance bloke. It was a grim race. Rev. Dr.

Otoman Zar-Adusht Ha'nish, sO Cyrus Hayes, head of Mazdaznans in Toronto, told us, was an American citizen, in spite of his name. "Ha'nish is an old Persian name," so he says. "'The 'zar' stands for 'purity'-the master does not like to talk much about himself," it was also added. No? Dr. Ha'nish, wearing a scarlet robe, a stand-up collar and white shirt, among other things, sat on a chair upon a raised dais before some forty Mazdaznans, mostly women.

He'd be a man about sixty, with his hair slightly grayed and thinning at the top. He sat straight up in chair, his hands on his lap and his head nodding periodically. As the doctor sat, he spoke--and as he spoke sound was produced. We sat down in the rear all ears. Reception didn't seem SO -or was he talking Persian? Then we caught "terra firma" and "modus operandi." Old Persian idioms? though' not.

We'd heard them somewhere before. We strained our ears. "Drawing the intelligence to the epyphesis, which is the seat of the mind-" came our way. We juggled it but couldn't do anything with "Exploit your mental horizon, in short your intelligences keep, garner your intelligences-." No good to us either. Then came, right out of the oven, "reality, infinite, heavenly state of But he wasn't holding us.

We picked up a pamphlet. Question and Answer We'd start at the beginning. "What was Mazdaznan?" It sounded as if it might be a beverage. "What is it?" asked pamphlet. "Oldest system of and mind culture devised by man," it tells us.
