eaths Funerals We did our exercises on Friday and then talked about homemade bread and what we ate with it. Some thought applesauce and fresh bread went well together. The Seniors came to entertain for our birthday party. March birthdays we honored were Ruth Reynolds and Mildred Rozmiarek. We had shamrock cookies for dessert after breaking the balloons.

Lo Dean had guests on Friday evening for an early Palm Sunday present. Her guests were Sue and Frank Carson, Diagonal; Maxine Tridle, Orient; Bonnie and Bill Ward, Shenandoah; great nephew Jordan Jones of Essex. They brought angel food cake, strawberries and Cool Whip for refreshments. They had a lot of visiting to do. Monday I worked at getting the Chatterbox together.

We talked about Volunteer Week and National Nursing Home Week that will be coming up in April and May. We hope all of you will plan to attend our special days. More news about these weeks next week. In the afternoon we had Sunday school and Ina did a lot of manicuring of fingernails. She also got the Easter tree put up on Tuesday.

It looks very nice. We reminisced about trolleys or street cars on Tuesday morning and told our most embarrassing moment. At Bingo, Hazel White won blackout, Arlene Powell won double postage stamp, Lo Dean Garner won regular Bingo with Mary Lou Walkup, Ruth Newburn, Earl Huntsman and Lucille Bailey all winning the picture frame. Roy Martin was a guest and Diana Scott the volunteer. Thank you, Diana.

Wednesday morning we exercised with current events following. We talked about birthing at home vs. being in the hospital. They have such fancy places in the hospitals now for mothers to be delivered that many times the whole family are in on the process. Several of our mothers were delivered in their own homes.

We talked about how teenagers could deal with wealth deciding they should have a good advisor to help them. Easter menus were talked about and another chapter in Paul book was read. Phil Henderson, Area Bible Fellowship minister conducted church services on Wednesday. Scripture was taken from Matthew 27, a difficult time to read about but the basis for our salvation. A crown of thorns was placed on head.

It was cruel and painful, but he bore that pain with dignity as the soldiers lead him through the streets. We still have weeks, thistle and thorns because of our sins. A red robe was put on his shoulders instead of a purple one (which would have designated Him as King), a reed placed in his hand. The people expressed their defiance as they were literally saying he was not their King and they would not submit to Him. He willingly laid down his life because of his love for us.

Our hope of life is in Jesus Christ. Kim Brown helped with the singing and Dale Juergens was a guest at the service. We celebrated the blue moon on Wednesday after church. Ina made a one and one-half gallon of blue ice cream and got the frozen cookies out of the freezer that the residents had made about a week ago, and we had a party. It take long to get rid of the ice cream and cookies (which were very good).

Dale Juergens and Phil Henderson enjoyed the treat with us. At country school Thursday morning Ina raided her "toy chest" and came up with several unusual toys for the residents to see. She had a musical Barbie doll on a bike, a giggly rock, a sword that lit up and made a noise, old tractors and Rubikub. After "playtime" we had rabbit trivia. Early supper was served so we could enjoy the square dancers doing their thing.

Nioma Gaule, Dale Juergens and 28 residents enjoyed the activity. Guests of Floyd Frame were Donna Hancock, Austin Hancock and Opal Goodale. Mary Lou Walkup visited with Brenda Poppa, Diana Son, and Ardith Sickels. Bill Lee King, Omaha and Ruth Henry were guests of Jean King. Jane Whitmore visited Lois Whitmore and Lucille Bailey.

Minnie Cordell visited with Darlene Larsen and Jane Whitmore. Helen Overholser visited with Bonnie Fletcher, Bessie Austin, Betty McCombs, Oskaloosa. Lorane Leonard called on Arlene Powell. Ruth Newburn visited with Opal Goodale, Esther Bailey, Darlene Larsen, and Nioma Gaule. Guests of Darlene Winslow were Kay Williams, Connie Jensen, Lenox; Dave and Zelda Winslow and great grandkids Seth, Emily, Jared Haidsiak and Adam Winslow.

Lucille Miller visited with Normie Beggs and Darlene Larsen. Opal Freemyer visited with Normie Beggs, Diana Son, and Ardith Sickels. Guests of Ruth Juergens were Normie Beggs, Darlene Larsen, Nioma Gaule. daughter left her mark before leaving for her home in the form of blooming red tulips for the staff to enjoy. Thanks, Sharon.
