Clemente for the widening of the highway to fifty six The plan also calls for orna mental lights over the forty mile distance If this plan is carried to comple tion San Clemente will 'be at the Southern terminus of Uris seashore drive and it is very probable that San Clemente will not be included in the assessment district as the plans for this city already cohtemplate widening of the highway to 80 feet and this has been done through a certain section of the Spanish Vil lage These petitions are being prepared by Woodruff chairman of the highway committee of the Orange County Coast Association' They will be circulated in the various Orange County coast cities of San Clemente Capistrano Beach Dana Point La guna Beach Huntington Beach Newport Beach and Seal Beach It has been estimated that the im provement which would make the Orange County coastline outstanding in American seashore drives would cost nearly $2000000 Woodruff has said that the State Highway Com mission is willing to provide thirty feet of the paving the entire length of the 40 mile strip The highway which is now one of the four most heavily traveled roads in the state is 20 feet wide at Athe 5 aid 5 only a few feet of pavement would have to be laid at the expense of the assessment district it was said The petitions will set forth' that a bond issue is required and that it would be retired in ten
