VICTIM OF II UN- Harvey Montgomery Believed Killed, Uncertain as Yet WILSON, April 21 Mrs. Christena Bush-lfcmbrough received a telegram last Thursday from the government stating that her son, Harvey Montgomery, had been killed while in the line of duty, in France. She was unable to jet any details, but as Harvey was an ambulance driver, it is thought that he met with some kind of accident.

The telegram gave as the date of his death March 17, but "as she had received a paper from her son with a March 17 date line and the wrapper addressed in Harvey's handwriting, she is living la hopes that there is some mistake about the news of the telegram. The. govern ment has made mistakes before and perhaps this is one of them. Mrs. Bush had three sons in the ar my in France, the youngest, James having returned about a month ago.

The oldest son. Ed, is still over there and she had expected that he and Harvey would both be coming home within a few weeks. ALTON MILL, BURNS Third Time Has Rurnrd Incurring Ijitrge Damage ALTON, April 21 Miller Brothers, the Alton millers, met with disaster Monday night, when their big mill' a that place was entirely destroyed by fire of origin. The building was erected about three years ago aft er the destruction of the Storer mill by similar fire.

This is the third time the mill at Alton has been burned, the irst being W. Bush's mill built in 1X74. which had scarcely been comple ted before fire destroyed the interior, it being a stone structure. Mr. Bush re- laced the machinery, and opera- cd the mill for years before selling out.

April 21 John Baird well known former resident of this city, died at the McPherson Hospital Friday of last week after a long illness. He was brought here from Barl.lesville, two weeks ago in a serious condition. OTTAWA, K.sha, April Copies of the act of the last legislature provi ding for free dental inspection of pupils' of the public schools, have been re ceived by local dentists, but no -official notification of its requirements- has been given the school board. The law makes it mandatory on boards of education cities of the first and second class, and on the boards of school districts, to provide for free dental inspection annually for Mil children attending such schools. The boards are to provide places of inspect ion and designate some completent censed dentist or dentists to make the inspection, and to fix the compensation for the service to be paid out of the school fund of each school. The coun ty is Authorized to make all necessary rules and regulations for the conduct of insnection and to furnish the necessary blanks.
