Terri voxox DIERWECHTER JAMES of Galloway since 1997 passed away November 26 2008 at Shore Memorial Hospital after a long illness He was born November 24 1950 in Atlantic City to the late Dr Reuben and Helen (Miller) Dierwechter Jim moved to Brigantine in 1954 and attended Holy Spirit Grammar School and High School class of 1968 He attended Miami Dade College and graduated with a degree in Business He was an area electrician owner of Dierwechter Electric and most recently employed as an electrical sub code inspector with various local municipalities He enjoyed hunting fishing and tinkering with his craftsman tools He loved family gatherings as long as he knew what time he was getting there and what time he was leaving He is survived by his wife of 20 years Kathleen (Donnelly) his twin daughters Janet (Ring) Lardner of Milford DE and Robin (Don) Tomasello of Cape May Court House NJ son Jim (Jennifer) Dierwechter of Morgantown WV and son Michael Eickman of Eastontown New Jersey 7 grandchildren Tyler and Geena Dierwechter Ring and Harley Lardner Evan Blum and Alex and Adrianna Tomasello his cousins Marie Leporati and Helen Piccoli his in laws Jeanne and Tom Hayes children at his side Martin was born and raised in Philadelphia but spent most of his adult life in Atlantic Co where he raised his family Marty was a Sergeant in the US Marine Corp and served his country in the Korean War He worked for Lincoln Transit Co and moved on to Penn Truck Aides from which he retired after an exemplary career He will be remembered for his willingness to help others and his colorful sense of humor He was preceded in death by his Parents and siblings Surviving are his companion Shirley Kruszewski who was sent as a blessing from God to bring him happiness and to care for him the last 1 1 years of his life Sons Joseph Michael (Ginger) and Mark (Heidi) Heckmann Daughter Janice (Ken) Bucknam His eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews Martin was cremated and November 25 2008 at the age ol 85 Ed was beloved for his decades long Christmas wonderland held at his home Over the years thousands of children attended some having parents who saw Santa there when they were a child While visiting with Santa they would receive small gifts refreshments and some entertainment provided by other family members and friends Over the years his efforts were recognized by the township the county and the state December 8 1999 was proclaimed Honorary Ed "Santa Claus" Judge Day which included both newspaper and local TV coverage He also received the Mays Landing Chamber of Commerce 1997 Good Neighbor Award and proclamations from the Atlantic County reeholders and the State and General Assembly both in December 1999 He was also recognized for his efforts as Ed
